Just so you know, Pro Show from FOTODEX, as great a programme as that was, is no longer in business. I have both Gold and Producer versions and they are great. However, the company closed up and sold everything to another company back in January 2020. The new company continues with the same thing and improvements, but... they have now gone the way of Adobe and now only RENT you the software on a monthly business.

I shall keep using my old Gold/Producer software because that was buy it once and use it forever more without paying another penny. I will not use any company that tries to hold a user to a monthly ransom. Your other suggestions were also good for others to know though.

[quote=OKsprat]I’m looking for a pocket or belt pouch sized camera to replace/complement a Canon bridge camera and DSLR to use for more convenient picture taking while traveling. I’m tired of lugging the bigger ones around.
I’ve looked at:
Canon G5x, G7x, G9x;
Sony hx99, RX100 VII
Panasonic ZS70, ZS80, ZS100, ZS200.

Just pick up a canon G1x III last week and on my learning track since, been a Nikon user including D750 since 70's but like to switch to a small traveling camera, any comment advise on this camera are would be welcome and appreciate.

[quote=repleo]The war of the viewfinders may be coming to an end. Interesting article on DP Review. Some quotes: -

"This year we sat down with leaders from (in alphabetical order) Canon, Fujifilm, Olympus, Panasonic, Ricoh, Sigma, Sony and Tamron to learn more about how they see the market, and to get an indication of what might be coming down the road.

Full-frame mirrorless will become the norm, and it will happen pretty soon

Will if be affordable for NONE PRO'S????

I shot this from in my vehicle. The camera was resting on a bean bag. The VR was on. Maybe it had the same effect as if it were on a tripod?

was just the camera body rest on the bean bag or the lens rest on the bean bag or the whole camera and the lens rest on the bean bag? if only the camera body set on the bean bag there may still be possible some movements!

Yep, Nikon are way behind on this, and it must be compatible for 'F' mount else there'll be little sells.

If you are getting error messages then yes, you need to send it in for repair. Soft images, well, wait and see what it does after you get it back from repair but if they still aren't sharp, I'd start by buying a good Nikkor lens. You may have a bad copy of the Tamron lens.

If you have another lens, try it before sending the camera in for repair. It just might be the Tamron lens that is causing the error message. After all, it's a 3rd party lens not made by Nikon.

or it may be cause from 3rd party battery!

I'm having a problem with Capture NX2. If I work on a photo, convert it to either jpg or tiff, and then work on it some more in another program such as Photoshop Elements or On1, I am then not able to open it again in NX2.

Are you trying to open your converted photo with Capture NX2? I may be wrong but Capture NX2 is for NEF raw files.

As a relative newcomer to photography and someone who just started using Picassa I couldn't begin to add to the discussion of definitions.
However, there has been one aspect of this argument that always troubled me. I believe there should be 2 categories of entry for photo contests.
One for what you are calling SOOC and one for PP.
Competing against someone with years of PP experience seems to make for an uneven playing field if you've never done it.
Just one man's opinion.

AGREE.

How do you save the settings to a card? (D500) . . .

on my D750, go to setup menu, go down to "save/load settings", ok on save setting.
Its same for my D7200, it may be same for your D500.

Whenever I post a photo it is almost always SOOC. Maybe a little straightening but that's generally it. I'm certainly not saying my photos don't need any work at all, I know they do, but that aspect and the finished product I'll leave for my enjoyment.

I don't post to show off my photo skills (or lack thereof) or my Photoshop or Lightroom skills, I post simply to show others places that I have been or animals I saw that maybe others haven't the opportunity to see.

Ditto here, even with DSLR (D7200 & D750, Nikon 28-300 f3.8), try to make all pictures counts, and do as little PP as possible; using in camera meter, gray card and compost carefully! Don't want to spent weeks at the PP after my vacations which average between 2,000 to 3,000 shots each, my keeping rate usually at 80 to 90 percents.

[quote=jerryc41]I just took my D750 out for a shoot after getting it returned from the Nikon recall a few days ago. I didn't bother to reset everything to my "likes," and it was funny having to focus with the shutter button, rather than BBF. I don't like that at all. I'll reset everything back to the way I like it. I knew it had been totally reset, but I didn't want to take the time to go through everything. Maybe I'll save the settings to an SD card, although that makes it automatic. I like going through the Menu and making decisions again.

Safe your setting in a SD, then all you have to do is to load it back.

My Nikon mirrorless dream would be Mirrorless body, brilliant OLED viewfinder, dual XD slots, same excellent low light performance as D810. And I don't give a shit about WiFi and GPS.

I did that a long time ago in Photoshop and the copyright did not show ( and I did not want it to show). Nowadays (10 years) I have the copyright info set in the camera (and of course it does not show in the pics)!!

In camera copyright setting not always work either! I have the Nikon D7200, have the copyright info setting in the camera, it doesn't show the copyright info unless you have the right software; so what good will it do if the thief can't see it.
