Hello, my question is I like to fine a software where I can make a slideshow from photos and then put it on a flash drive, I see so many software where you can make dvd but that so out dated, I am trying to make it for my mom 85th Birthday. Thank you for your help.

I would not think the storage medium - flash drive vs DVD vs being able to send by a by a file transfer program like Dropbox or we transfer - would make a difference. The slideshow is just a file. As you note, DVD players in computers are becoming relics on most new machines, especially laptops, in favor of USB-a, USB-c, thunderbolt, etc

While I don’t know of a specific program, I would think an up-to-date version of any slideshow builder would support most transfer mediums.

To piggyback on your thread, I would be interested if there is a cloud based version, where one could build a slideshow and then supply someone a link to view (not download) a show

There are lots of slide show makers. Create your slide show and save it to your thumb drive. Another option, save it to your hard drive, then copy to the thumb drive, and you will have a back up.

Free slideshow software for PC

Icecream Slideshow Maker – best free slideshow maker.

PhotoStage Slideshow Software – slideshow maker with a photo editor.

Proshow Gold – slideshow maker with in-built themes and music.

Slidely – an advanced online slideshow maker.

Kizoa – easy-to-use online slideshow maker.

Freemake video converter

Just a few. Pro show is used a lot here I think.

All video editors that I know of accept still images. That includes Apples iMovie, Windows Movie Maker (now obsolete) and Windows Photos (current). My preference is Premiere Elements because it will use RAWs straight from Lightroom Classic with any adjustments made. Video software is full of title and transition choices.

The slideshows are exported as MP4 videos. Most TVs will play them directly from the USB plugged into the TV.

Try IrfanView. Has an easy-to-use slideshow maker that saves the show as an executable to whatever media you assign. It also does lots more, great for resizing JPGs for email, adding text, other stuff. Go to Irfanview.com for the download.

Dropbox or similar should be able to do that. It works with videos.

I use Movavi Video Editor. It's easy to use, reasonably priced, and you can use it for slideshows and videos, which you can then easily transfer to a flash drive.

I have used Lightroom for slideshows for my churches video worship services to great success. I use Drop Box to transfer the file, which is quite large, to the editor. If your flash/thumb drive has the capacity, there should be no problem.

I use Pro Show but it’s been replaced. Go to Photodex to see what the new one does. No problem saving to USB's or DVD's.

I have a couple of programs that do slide shows, some better than others. My preference is PowerPoint because I can use stills or videos, set timing for slides and transitions. Also add sound/music and generate the slideshow that will play on a PC without PowerPoint installed.
And it came with MS Office.
