Corel AfterShot Pro copyright function.. anyone with experience ?

I am using Corel AfterShot Pro 3 software to add watermarks and copyright to photos- both jpeg and raw files. They are then converted to jpeg when exporting. I embed the copyright info, then export the photos. If I open the exported photos in AfterShot Pro 3 I can see the copyright info. If I open the file in Canon's DPP editor or Corel's own Paintshop Pro 8 I can not see the copyright info ...

Do other photo editors work like this with copyright info? Is this a fact of life as there is no standard place in the image files to place the copyright information or something unique to Corel ?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me understand this as it does not help much to add the information if it can't be seen.

I did that a long time ago in Photoshop and the copyright did not show ( and I did not want it to show). Nowadays (10 years) I have the copyright info set in the camera (and of course it does not show in the pics)!!

To clarify my problem ( I wasn't clear in my original post )... the copyright info can not be found in the data files associated with the pictures except in AfterShot Pro 3

I don't use AfterShot Pro 3, but if you mean the data is stored in sidecar (xmp) files, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't show in other software. I have a number of editing programs that use sidecar files but they can't read the files created by a different one. If you export a finished image I would expect the data to be written into the exported file and then it should show in other editors when you open it..

In camera copyright setting not always work either! I have the Nikon D7200, have the copyright info setting in the camera, it doesn't show the copyright info unless you have the right software; so what good will it do if the thief can't see it.
