One photographers cliché is another photographers work of art. Art is, by nature Subjective.
Switched from WINDOWS to MAC in 2008 - Never looked back! Apple products: Superior. Apple customer service: nonpareil! I was so taken by the quality of th Apple Brand that as a tribute to Jobs I purchased APPLE stock equivalent to a MacBook Pro!
I was devastated , to put it mildly, when Apple discontinued Aperture last June, I thought it was the best App for photography in every sense. Lightroom doesn't come close to ease of organizing and editing!
Any thoughts?
The problem with Lightroom is that its organizing methodology is, to me who is used the elegant simplicity of Aperture (RIP), a complicated, unwieldy, hair pulling experiece! I have purchased the manuals, watched the tutorials on YOUTUBE, subscribed to courses, and I am on the verge of giving up and assuming the fetal position...on the other hand the editing part is quite good really!
Over the years, having immersed myself in the study of art and its history. and having spent a career in architecture and design, I have, some years ago, adopted photography as my means of artistic expressions, and as most artists I tend to be narcissistic in my creations. Therefore I am quite self-referenced in judging my own work; I am the sole arbiter of my work and reluctant to judge others.
Seeing that Apple has abandoned Aperture, which I find hugely useful, I exported all my pics to Lightroom CC. The result was a chronological disaster: 2008 interspersed with 2011 and so on, you get the picture!
Any suggestions? (I did use the chronological filter; did not help).
Viewing on my iMac Retina monitor, I see no difference at all.
I have the Canon 5D MK II. And the 6D. I find I've been using the 6D much more often: Lighter and High ISO (I am not a fan of the flash). I read in one of my photo magazine a review of the Leica V-LUX (114). Compact Full Frame 25-400 zoom. And light for traveling. The BrandName: Leica persuaded me to purchase it and try it out. The first few images seem excellent, It is quite a complicated piece of equipment and I have just begun to fathom it.
Any one worked with that camera?
Great Pics...Powerful commentary.
Thank you for your advice and insight! (BTW I am 82 yrs old)
Good advice! I am OK with my lenses - they are L lenses
I am about embark on a rather lengthy trip and need advice: I, on short trips, have carried 2 cameras and 4 lenses: Canon 5D Mk.II and Canon 6D. I intend to travel with one camera - sell the two and replace with one.
Which one?
Old cliché: there are no stupid questions. I find this forum both entertaining and educational. Over 60 years handling cameras and I still find things to learn.
Apologies Refer to goodsync.
