First i bought a DSLR then i found the uhh, and totally got caught up in the "must have syndrome" and even though i didnt know how to fully use my camera i bought another, which as a total amateur i didnt need even though it is a better camera, when i have needed advice this is the place to go and my photographs have definately improved because of the advice i have gleaned from here.

I live between Big & Little Bayou Black, and plenty of near by ponds and drainage canals.
In my yard:
1.) Halloween Pendent
2.) Four Spot Pendent
3.) Brown Saddlebag
4.) Blue Dasher/Great Blue Skimmer
5.) Eastern Pondhawk
6.) Golden Darter
7.) Red Veined Darter
8.) Amberwing
9.) and few yet to identify.

This means not very many skeeters left to bite me. I also have 2 dozen Mississippi Kites which feed on dragonflies and have seen that many over head at one time.

I believe there are about 6000 dragonflies species and i have managed about 5, thanks for the pics.

Brilliant Bret, I love my butterfly shots (and moths and damsel flies and Dragon Flies) and i love those, I do not know the American name for that Butterfly but ours in the UK is Clouded Yellow, even better with open wing shot.

Those all look like the blurry shots I shoot, go back to what you were doing before. You had much better photos, just MHO.

Birdpix you already take the photographs that the rest of us can only try to copy, but these are not to your standard Sorry.

I enjoyed them all thanks, you would have no problems succeeding with the kingfisher that fishes on my track it stays for quite a time even when an excited group of Chinese are setting up and taking pics he/she just ignored them.

The canon is a great camera so is the nikon and my camera the sony is also great, now if what you have to spend is $1000 the last thing you will ever need is all the very expensive lens that sharp shooter tells us about, so the better question to ask is what would be best in my price range because there are some very fine machines out there, but be prepared you will still get people telling you to spend more than what you have said, best of luck i wont try to sway you as whatever you choose will be fine.
