Only in terms of image quality, should I expect better image quality in moving up to the D500 from my D5300, lenses being equal? Seems like the 24 MP of the D5300 should be at least as good if not better. Need some advice. As always thank you for helping me with your experience and knowledge.

I do not have any experience with the D5300. However, I do have a D7200 witch I do I believe has is the same sensor. My D500 is much
better at the higher ISO's.

I am wondering what people using a D7200 use for PP. I used View NX-2 with my D3300. When I was playing around with the D7200 I tried multiple times to transfer pix via USB cable into View NX-2, and nothing ever worked. So I have to think that NX-2 does not accept NEF images from the D7200. Is there any other similar Nikon product I can use for the D7200? I would really hate to have to learn a new PP package. TIA!!!

I use NX-D to transfer directly from the camera. They can then be copied as TIFF files which can be used by most other processing programs.
Reformat the SD cards in the camera to erase.

Would appreciate opinions on getting a D7500 or a D500 refurb direct from Nikon. The Nikon sight is offering 10% off refurbed this weekend and there is a $495 difference between the two camera bodies. I am leaning toward the D500, but would like your input. Am currently using a D5500 for lacrosse and cross country meets of my grandchildren. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I have a Nikon 7200 and more often than not use the 6.3G version of the 18-300 zoom. I would be interested in any comments about the desirability of the 5.6 version. As a practical, real world matter does it make enough difference to justify the added cost.

I understand some of the limitations of these zoom lenses, but at least for me the plus of not carrying around a bag is usually worth it.

Use the 6.3 on a D7200 and D500. Unless you are doing a lot of low light I'm not sure
that the cost is justified.

Hopefully going to Italy in October and decided on my "walk around" ? Lens I'm going to buy at Summer's end since I need to save up for it. It's Nikons 18-300 f/3.5-6.3 $700. I would like to hear hogs thoughts on this lens those who have and have not used it. And how it compares to Nikons same lens f/3.5-5.6 version. I'm using my D3300. Thanks to all in advance.

I use the 18-300 on a D500 and once in while on a D7200. I find that it works well as a walk around for the type of photos I take.
Not a pro, just take pics.

I have a 35mm 1.8G and an 85mm 1.8G and where I have always struggled is which is the better lens to use as the "main" one when traveling or your general walk around lens. It never fails that when I have my 35, I am thinking it would have been great to also have the 85, and vice-versa. I primarily like taking pictures of landscapes, buildings, people walking by, etc. I also like taking close ups, but neither seem very good at close distances. Great lenses but just wondering what people use as their primary set up. I use either my D300 or D7100 with either/both lenses.

I like either my 28-200 or 18-300 on either a D7200 or D500, depending on witch I think I will need.

Hello! I’m a newbie here...this is my first post! Most of my experience behind the camera has been with point and shoots. While I’ve enjoyed those I would rather have a better quality camera for better pics. I’m going to stretch my budget a bit and get a Nikon D500. My dilemma is should I go with a bundle that the retailer is selling? If I were to get the body and just one lens to begin with what would you recommend as a good ‘all occasion’ type of lens? I guess that’s enough to start...i talk ... a lot so I’ll apologize in advance! :-). Thank you everyone! Looking forward to chatting with all of you!

The idea of carting around multiple lens and the possibility of wanting/needing to change lens under adverse conditions scares me.
But, I have bee n known to carry two cameras. I use an older aftermarket 28-200 on a D7200 as a backup to my D500 with
a Nikkor 18-300. I also have Nikkor 200-500 to use on which ever I choose.

Many years ago ( I don't remember when, but Ali was still fighting), one of the local radio stations sponsored
some sort of a computer generated tournament of some of the great heavy weights. The final was a fight
between Ali and Marciano. Marciano won.

I am not familiar with that lens, but, I have an older lens that has an aperture ring that must be
set to f/22 to work in auto, program or S priority mode. It can be changed in A priority. The
camera will adjust accordingly, or use the wheel.
