Would appreciate opinions on getting a D7500 or a D500 refurb direct from Nikon. The Nikon sight is offering 10% off refurbed this weekend and there is a $495 difference between the two camera bodies. I am leaning toward the D500, but would like your input. Am currently using a D5500 for lacrosse and cross country meets of my grandchildren. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I faced the same dilemma a few weeks ago and went with the D500. I have absolutely no regrets. The D500 has a great, solid feel. The focusing is outstanding. Since you are doing action shots it is a natural for you. I appreciate having two card slots (primarily because I never take both out at once and this way it's not a deal breaker if I forget to put a card back in after loading images on my computer). I slightly miss having an onboard flash but purchased a small Nikon flash to use when necessary for close work but have found I never use it.

Only get the D7500 if the D500 is too expensive for you.

I'm a Canon guy as far as DSLR's go if for no other reason that's where I've always been. But I've read enough and know enough people who have D500s that I am convinced you are right. It is the best crop sensor DSLR camera available today.

Hi group,
I had planned to purchase a D7500 to serve as a grab-and-run camera plus as a backup to my D750. I figured I better see how it fit in my hands and I was disappointed. The narrow space between the handhold and the lens is just too tight for my hands. You may want to consider that depending on the size/shape of your hands. Let us know what you decide and good luck whichever way you go. Take care & ...
