Howdy,
1st week in April and $2000 budget where would you go and what would you take images of ?
Jim
Look for airfare bargains? Any relatives you can visit?
What do you really like to photograph? Paris in the spring is great, but if you're a birder, you might only get to see a couple of pigeons (well, a lot of pigeons...), and maybe a couple of falcons who now are starting to move into the city to chase the pigeons...
Give us some context and you'll get a lot of good suggestions.
Maybe he's in Tucson, but we don't know.

Most northern areas are still cold and or snowy in April so I would opt for southern USA. (I don't fly)
I'd go for birds, reptiles and water along the Gulf Coast. Start in Texas and work around to Key West.
I'd take a couple of Nikons, assorted lenses (10 to 500mm), tripods and also an underwater capability, either a housing or a dedicated underwater camera. Also a canoe or Kayak.
That's what I would do.

Just checked, out of curiosity, booking this far ahead, round trip to Paris, $821. Gotta get back there!
Overnight it dipped down to -20 here and there is two feet of snow on the ground. The only place that comes to mind for me is to visit my sister in Brisbane, Australia. Work on my sunburn.
Around mid May to June, I want to visit Niagara Falls. The Parks Department goes out of their way to make both American and Canadian cities beautiful. There are so many wonderful sites to see.

Might be helpful if we knew where you are starting from.
We live in Maryland/USA.
Landscapes, cityscapes.
Looking forward to a adventure trip with him before he starts college.
The Masters, Augusta GA
or
The Commonwealth Games, Queensland Australia
How about Iceland ? Air fares are reasonable. To make most of the time I would guess a local photo/travel guide or guide book.
