I have chosen the RAW+JPEG option so I have both. I work in DPP with the RAW version.

I don't work in RAW but it appears you cannot directly resize RAW files per se.

Any resizing, up or down, is done when exporting the edited image in the chosen format or on the finished .jpg, tiff, etc.

See page 2 of the Canon DPP Quick Guide.

I'm using a SX50HS. Some of the photos I've taken I like better as 50% or 100% view. My problem is that I can't figure out how to save those views.

I may be way off base here but I think what you are looking for is called Resizing, not Cropping. You like the reduced size of your photo better than its full size.
Go to the DPP Help file and look for Resize.

I saw a similar article online last night. It showed an email exchange between CBS and a professional photographer. CBS asked the photographer if they could use his image for free and just give him credit for it.

Naturally, the photographer said no, and he asked the executive if he worked for credit.

How do I make an icon on my desktop? Right clicking just don't work.

By icon, we'll assume you mean Shortcut and they can be made the same way as with Win 8.1 or 7 or XP, etc.

1.Right-click or tap and hold any blank place on the Windows 10 Desktop.
2.Choose New > Shortcut.
3.Pick one of the ms-settings apps listed below and type it into the input box. ...
4.Click Next, give the shortcut a name, and click Finish.

If you're getting sick of me posting about my Win10 update problems, just let me know.

The error message I keep getting is "We cannot update the Reserved Partition." This is part of a response I got on the MS help site. I'm still working on this, and more information will be posted there, but does this make sense to anyone?

"There is no Active partition on a UEFI install which uses an EFI System partition to boot rather than the Legacy MBR System Reserved.
Apparently however the error refers to either EFI System or MBR Sys Reserved as "System Reserved."

The author suffered the same problems, Jerry. Check out the step by step instructions that worked for him.

When running the Command Prompt in Accessories, be sure to right click on the shortcut/link and use "Run as administrator". Copy/Paste the DOS Commands in item 6 of the instructions to avoid a mistake.

Hello All...
have just installed PSPX7...and it has apparently taken over my machine...I don't know what buttons that I have pushed in making selections...even trying to open attached jpegs in my Hotmail.
Any suggestions for trying to turn PSP off from handling everything for me...?

Thanks a lot!

Bert

You probably clicked on the File Format Associations, All supported file formats, OK.

Go into Power Menu(Start Button)/Control Panel/View by: Category/Default Programs and re-set the file associations.

When you next open PSP, leave association at None and OK.
Once fully opened, PSP will find all the image files and folders installed.

In the FWIW Dept., Steves Digicams (http://www.steves-digicams.com/camera-deals.html) has refurbished Canon SX50HS on sale:

"Canon has the refurbished Canon Powershot SX50HS 50x Zoom High-Performance Camera on sale for $170 + $5 shipping = $175 shipped. Comes with free 4GB Class 6 SD Memory Card.
12.1-Megapixels, DIGIC 5 Image Processor, 2.8" LCD
24mm 50x Optical Zoom lens, up to ISO 6400, 1080p video"

I know nothing about the seller, but I use the SX50 as a travel camera, and it fits that niche nicely.

Steve's Digicams apparently doesn't sell but lists sale items and links to their sites.

Clicking on the SX50HS ad (Expiring 09/05/2015), takes you to Canon's Refurb site where it is listed at $386.99.

Of the 5 other deals listed, only 2, the Nikon 1 S2 and the Canon PowerShot S120 bundle are offered at the prices Steve's quotes.

PS: The website as listed in your profile goes nowhere except for a 404 error. If you were to list it preceded by http://www. and followed by the extension (.com, .org, .net, etc) it would become a clickable link. I tried these, but none of them work, so we need the correct information from you.

Just checked Magicunicorn's profile page and his website currently shows as http://kellietroyphotography.com/

you're not reading the problem and assuming facts not presented in the thread. THIS PROBLEM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WINDOWS 10 UPGRADE.
Jerry's machine can not get updates of any kind as long as the MS server doesn't recognize him and his machine or registration ID.

My post was a compilation dealing with a failure to update and Win 10 missing because of that. And just prior to that I posted on the failed updating of Windows Defender for which he received an error code.

Two recommendations in case you ever get off the computer or put the camera down. I saw a great science documentary from NOVA - "Earth from Space." Using the dozen or more weather satellites we have circling the earth, the show explained the oceans, atmosphere, vegetation, weather, etc. I never knew that Antarctica had so much control over the world's weather. It averages 43° colder than the north pole, and the flow of water from there affects oceans worldwide.

I saw an unusual WW II submarine movie last night on Netflix. "In Enemy Hands," from 2004, shows both U. S. and German subs and their crews. I'll watch just about anything with submarines.

I posted this question a couple of weeks ago, and I still haven't found a solution, so I'm giving all of you another chance.

I have a machine running Win7, and I cannot update Windows. When I click on Update Windows, I eventually get a window saying the service is not running.

We assume you are running Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 installed otherwise the update to Win 10 won’t be made.

Open Internet Explorer,
Click on Tools in Menu,
Click on Windows Update and the Update page will open, picture A,
Click download and install any outstanding or missing updates.

As your updates aren’t automatically happening, click on “Change settings” (upper left of screen in picture A) and adjust where shown in picture B.

The Windows update that makes the Win 10 offer is KB3035583.
You may have somehow prevented it being installed, so also click on “Restore hidden updates” and if it is there, click on it and “Restore and install”.
