If you're getting sick of me posting about my Win10 update problems, just let me know.

The error message I keep getting is "We cannot update the Reserved Partition." This is part of a response I got on the MS help site. I'm still working on this, and more information will be posted there, but does this make sense to anyone?

"There is no Active partition on a UEFI install which uses an EFI System partition to boot rather than the Legacy MBR System Reserved.
Apparently however the error refers to either EFI System or MBR Sys Reserved as "System Reserved."

I solved my Windows 10 update problems with one fell swoop, I didn't update. Instead I bought a brand new computer to replace my 4+ year old model. The new one is MUCH faster and came with Win 10 pre-installed, not a single issue with it at all, works great! (I did have to add a 5 USB 3.0 card to it as it didn't have enough USB ports for my needs.)

Now there's an idea! I've had this one for over eight months, and it's probably outdated. And, like every other day, I got mail from Dell telling me about their great deals on computers. For about the same price, I could get wheels and snow tires, though.

I went with the Lenovo KP-450E with 32GB RAM, 2TB HD, Quad i7 processors, they put it together for me for under $800 with free 2 day shipping. If I have seen it only had 8 USB ports I would have added more initially, but that was all I had to do to it besides turn it on and load my software. It even came WITH A ONE-YEAR FREE Adobe Photoshop CC subscription. They made it very hard to say no to the deal, glad I didn't.

Great price. From the Lenovo site -

"Search was unable to find any results for "KP-450E"."

EDIT: Got it! Drop the P.

http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/desktops/lenovo/k-series/k450e/

You got quite a bit more than they list for that price. it looks like you got the Sold Out $1,450 model. Good Going!

Sorry, typo, am on my phone. Yes it was the K450E. Commercial account pricing I think, plus the daily promo package.

I believe you need to expand your System Reserved partition. Until W10 it was enough with 100MB Reserved system partition. From Windows 10 I believe it requires at least 350MB. If you do not feel comfortable with such task ,i would suggest, go for a clean install (backup your files) or get someone to do it for you. Lots of program out there , free, and easy to use.

I must apologize for not giving help on partitioning.I do not give such help anymore, as I've been accused of giving wrong information and lost files and archives. Some tasks are not meant for everybody. Period.

I believe you need to expand your System Reserved ... (show quote)

I've been working my way through partitions - moving, resizing, deleting. I'm almost there.

Jerry, have you tried a clean install? my other ideas are to take it to a Microsoft store and have them do it, or install Ubantu to completely remove all old windows traces and then do a clean install. Bob.

Keep posting your complaints. It strengthens my resolve to NOT get acquainted with 10 until I am absolutely forced to do it. I am quite happy with 7 and believe in the old axiom 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

At the office we have a say :
PEBKAC = Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair.
I've been upgrading to W10 for a while, on private basis and customers. All problems are small minor problems related to drivers. People still believe in Plug-And-Pray, and it works, but let's be honest, some things has to be done manually. And thats where users fail.

Kudos to Nikon_Jon : "if it ain't broken, don't fix" and this should be rule nr.1 for everybody on MS system with little knowledge on how to perform technical tasks as driver updates, partitioning, bios settings.

FWIW, I updated my 7 year old Toshiba with windows 7 to 10 about 3 weeks ago and it's working just fine. The only issue I had is that I couldn't load pics from my XE-1 with the USB cable, had to take the card out of the camera and insert into computer. My nikons work fine with the USB cable.

Delete your partition reformat and do a clean install. I did that to my 6 year old laptop which originally can with Vista installed W7 then W10 no problems

Don't know where you got yours but I googled the Lenovo KP-450E with 32GB RAM, 2TB HD, Quad i7 processors and it showed the Lenovo website. According to their site, the one you have with 32.0 GB RAM, 2TB HD and i7 processor isn't "under $800" but more like almost $1,500 and it shows that it has Windows 8.1. The under $800 model had an i5 processor, a 1TB HD and 8.0 GB of RAM with Win8.1.

This is where I found it:
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/desktops/lenovo/k-series/k450e/#

I did find one matching your description on eBay for $769, however, it is a refurbed unit.

I'm having some intermittent issues with my current laptop hard drive and I'm thinking about installing a clean new SSD. If I can, I'd like to download Windows 10 onto the new drive without cloning in any of the errors or other junk from my old drive. AAny thoughts or suggestions?
