Happy to know there are good photo clubs in CT. I had been with a very good photo club called 'New York Botanical & Zoological Photo Society" Name changed recently to "Bronx Photo Society" for several years. After moving to CT, I have been searching for a new club but couldn't. How can I contact them for membership If I decide to join them and what is the qualification for joining? Besides that, the location and meeting time is important to me, because I'm 73 yrs old, I don't want to drive too far and too late at night.
Thank you!

If you are interested in the camera club, go to www.simsburycameraclub.com. You will find all the information you need there. The first meeting of the year is this coming Monday, September 18. They meet at Eno Hall right in the center of Simsbury on Rte. 10&202. I don't know where you are in Avon, but it shouldn't be too far. Just show up and try it out. There is no pressure to join ($40/year) and they are a friendly group. They've been around since 1956. Tell them Susan Poirier sent you.

Yes, I was also a member - great group with lots of seminars and activities. I lived in Simsbury before moving to Florida and was also a member of Simsbury Camera Club, which is also another awesome group of photographers. Miss them.

As of 5 pm, Irma made landfall and has been down graded to a cat2, that means winds are down to a manageable 115mph,and thats Great news.

Yes! I am happy with that (who whooda thunk I'd be happy with 115 mph winds)

I'm in Sarasota and we too thought it would go up the east coast. Most gas stations ran out midweek and when they got in a new tanker it was gone in minutes. Hunkered down.

Good luck to you too!

Susan, I think you'll be fine. Newer construction codes require homes to be able to withstand 150mph. If you've got shutters over the windows that's great. By the way, you have great pictures on your flickr account!

Thanks for the encouragement and yes, I am sure I will be fine. Thanks for the comment about Flickr also.

I am in Tampa and we are supposed to get hit with cat 3 Irma tonight! Earlier in the week it was forecast to go up the east coast of the Florida peninsular but now it's going up the west coast. Too late now to try and go anywhere else so we're hunkered down and all batteries charged. I'm not near the water or in any evacuation zone, so the high wind is my only concern.

I am in Sarasota and have to admit I am pretty scared. In new construction with hurricane shutters but 125 mph winds?.....

What about an electronic tracker. If my camera has to go into baggage, I would try this on an older model first. I'm not sure how far they can be tracked, but maybe just seeing them would deter theft? https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00KPIOR2Y/ezvid02-20

Why not try selling it on this forum - Members Buy and Sell section? I've sold a lens here and was pleased with the results.
