Someone put a lot of work into that. I wonder why he chose cilantro.

I saw a nice animated video that started in outer space and closed into the earth, then a city, then a boy, then a mosquito on his arm - and it kept going right into the blood cells that the bug had sucked out of him. The final scene was a quick shot back out into space.

Back in 1982 Scientific American published a book called "Powers of Ten" that was derived from a video with the same title... it did much the same thing as the video you described, instead it zoomed in from outer space to the back of a man's hand having a picnic in the park alongside Burnham Harbor in Chicago. It turned out that one of the boats pictured in the harbor belonged to a friend of mine, identified by its unique location at the pier. After I showed it to him it seems he bought many copies and gave them to his friends who visited his boat for the first time as a kind of reminder of their experience. Funny how stuff like that floods back into memory once jogged loose by a thread such as this one. Thanks! (BTW, the book is still in print, although only as a paperback... mine is a first edition hard cover and I still enjoy it every now & again.)

In the days before the invention of the float glass process, flat glass was spun vertically at the end of a mandrel... that "eye' is typical of the piece that would remain (at the mandrel) after the rest of the "flat" glass had been cut away from the spun disk.

Kodak Lands $765 Million U.S. Loan in Start of Medical Supply Chain Fix

Yes, that news certainly made the market happy... I saw an article this morning that reported Kodak's stock was up 203% yesterday and is up another 60% in pre-market trading this morning. Crazy....

In terms of overall privacy and performance, take a look at the Brave browser. It's built on the same open source "Chromium" browser that Google Chrome is based on, so the interface is familiar to many. It lacks the tracking and Google oriented stuff of Chrome. Fast, too.

I'm with you, Brave for my browser & duckduckgo for my search engine.

What I really liked recently was the youtube about the SR71 pilots that got a ground speed check. At 1992 mph it was just hilarious the way it unfolded. Now that's a speed record.

I'm with you... amazing aircraft. Took 4 states to make a U-turn.

Hot inhaled Marijuana smoke kills it.

It probably doesn't kill it, just makes it forget why it's there.

You have seen the scene in almost all Westerns when a bunch of rowdies ride into town shooting off their guns with the townfolk scattering. In reality, they would get off their horses and face a Sheriff and a bunch of townsfolk facing them with shotguns. The pioneers of the West were not people to mess with.

Yeah, and back in them days those shotguns were most likely double-barrel 10-gauge. It's no wonder the bad guys didn't want to mess with the humble townsfolk.

How cool. My first 5 hours were in a Piper J5, but I ultimately soloed in a 150. Took a biennial in a J3 once, probably the most fun checkride I ever did. Flying is happy way to spend time and gives a totally different perspective on things. Thanks for sharing.

I used to publish a monthly newsletter that had a $45/year subscription fee which was typically paid by checks through the mail. The longest time to receive one of those checks (mailed from Phoenix to Florida) was about 9 months. It only had a Phoenix postmark so go figure.

Try IrfanView. Has an easy-to-use slideshow maker that saves the show as an executable to whatever media you assign. It also does lots more, great for resizing JPGs for email, adding text, other stuff. Go to Irfanview.com for the download.

Seem to remember Tom Clancy wrote a book about a plot to spread a virus at an Olympic game.

Better yet, in 1980 (about) Dean Koontz wrote "The Eyes of Darkness" in which he chronicles the creation of the "Wuhan-40 virus" and later in the tale predicts that it would be unleashed in early 2020. If that ain't spooky I don't know what is.

I recently got an Epson ET-2760 tank-type printer, and it seems to be lacking adjustments available on all other printers. When I click on "Properties," all I get is a choice of printing double-sided or not. There's nothing about Best Quality, Glossy Paper, etc. Am I missing something here (aside from the printer choices)?

Have you checked the Epson website for updated drivers? I've had similar issues with HP printers when first installed and they use the Windows native drivers. After the update there are lots more settings to fool with.

I really enjoy these sorts of cartoons... the ones that make you take everything in and then analyze what you're seeing in order to discover the humor. Thanks for sharing that...

As for how long you can store them, I think all lithium ion store well. There are tons of tips on best practices. For example, store at 40% charge, don't let it fully discharge, stop charging before 100% and so on. Quality chargers take care of some of this. For example a good charger will stop charging before 100% charge, cheap ones may not.

That's interesting... I've never seen a proper Lipo charger that doesn't complete the full recommended charge protocol. Even the chips that control the charge process are built to accommodate a full charge. Charging a lipo happens in 2 stages, first is with a constant current at the (typically) 1C charge rate (ie, a 1000 mah battery will initially charge at 1 amp) and when full voltage is reached (4.2v per cell) the charger switches to constant voltage and slowly ramps down the current until full charge is achieved. According to the cell manufacturers, following that process should result in longest battery life provided the rest of the usage recommendations are followed as well.
