Don't look a gift camera in the shutter! (Unless you're taking a selfie!) Just enjoy the gift until it doesn't work anymore, then replace it.

Check the laws of your state. If the business doesn't have a physical presence in-state, the state can't require them to charge sales tax; however, many states have a so-called "Use Tax" which is the same thing, except that it tasks you, the taxpayer, with the obligation to report and pay the tax. Most people just ignore it & don't pay. Some states are getting more aggressive about collecting it, though. I know my state, Virginia, now has a requirement to certify, under oath, on the state income tax return, that you made no purchases from out-of-state where you were not charged sales tax. If you sign your return & they catch you later, you can be charged with perjury. So check your state's laws & enforcement before thinking you don't have to pay.

Interesting, watching the video in the article, I see the X effect on the other brand filter, but on their filter I see a noticeable vignette effect instead.

Great for a single exposure! Most of what I see is a series of 20-30 sec exposures that are stacked in PP using some form of star stacking software. That helps in not getting the sky and rest of the image over exposed.

I don't connect to my own car, let alone a rental. Sounds like a great source of information for the NSA, though!

I just went from the Canon T2i to a new Canon 80d and all I can say is Im pleased but disappointed.
The Pictures and end product is So much better with the 80d but the wifi connection to send the picture is virtually usueless
Ive been to 3 Canon stores in San Antonio and Austin and all have told me what CRAP the Canon WiFi is and all''' had so much trouble setting it up.
It worked for a few shots then needed to be set up again.......Once actually in the store where they took two shots. sent them, then it stopped and needed to be set up again!
Im wondering if Canon is working on a workable upgrade as I actually have a Samsung Camera (not a phone) that takes the pics and sends them in less then one minute!
Dealers said the Nikon system was even worse then the Canon (Non-Connect) system
I just went from the Canon T2i to a new Canon 80d ... (show quote)

I, too, have a T2i purchased about six years ago. After muffing my eclipse photo attempts, I decided I needed to upgrade based on two primary things: 1) an articulating view screen, and 2) the ability to adjust micro-focus to each lens. After a lot of research, I had decided to go with an 80D. I plan the purchase sometime next year when the next model will probably come out. Your comments here may give me pause to wait to see if the next model (90D??) may improve on the wifi. If so, I may wait awhile longer until that model price comes down. I have until 2024 for the next eclipse in the US.

You said "Smart TV" but didn't specify any particular streaming "innards." If it is Ruku, go to their site & start adding all the free movie channels you can find. I tried Netflix & gave up on it when they raised rates again. Really not worth the $$ in my view. Hulu the same. They all raise the rates regularly, just like cable companies. That's why I cut the cord! I figure why end up paying more piecemeal than I did on cable service? Stick with the free stuff, there's plenty enough to keep you from getting bored.

If you're looking for a cable TV service replacement, Sling TV is good & has lots of movie channels available, too.

Sounds like FAKE NEWS

Maybe fake news, or not, but I'd sure love to have something to turn my Minolta SRT-102 into digital!

How about someone design a drop-in cassette that works in old 35 mm film cameras? The electronics could be in cassette(s) on either/both sides, where the film cassettes & take up used to go, with a full frame sensor in the middle. A slot for a micro SD storage card could be in one of the cassettes. Just take it out to download the photos. All the settings & focus would be manual, just like the old days! What fun!!!!!

80D, body only, is back in stock at Canon refurb site ($799). I'd do that rather then continuing up the TXi food chain.
