I realized that I haven't had much time for photography lately. Between the arrival of winter and the arrival of the holidays, I barely have a free moment. I like to drive for 30 - 60 minutes and then walk around taking pictures. With all the seasonal chores, holiday celebrations, and get-togethers, I haven't been able to do that. I'm free for the rest of today and tomorrow, so I can get things done around the house, but on Wednesday, more activities kick in. I guess it's better than having nothing at all to do.

Have any of you noticed a decrease in you photo time?

Yes, and that's why I quit shooting RAW and worked on my camera knowledge and setup for better SOOC images.

Less post processing adds shooting time back into my schedule.

Image quality...good as ever. I'm not seeking a Pulitzer, and I'm happy to gift and print/hang my work.

Living single and limiting my hobbies to three helps as does living in an RV.

You gotta find an afternoon to recharge your batteries, Jerry. I promise you'll sleep better.

Yes, but not because of the holidays. I had surgery on my right index finger right after Thanksgiving. Try operating a camera without using your index finger, but having it and a bulky bandage in he way.

I agree with you Jerry. I went on vacation, shot 1000 photos, have not had the time to PP many of them. Back to work, still finishing up the kitchen, holiday shopping, Whew!!! Had a beautiful snow over the weekend and no time to shoot, darn... Well at least winter will last a while, more opportunities. Rest is for the weak!

Yeah. I drove 2½ hours from Los Angeles to the middle of the Mojave desert to shoot abandoned buildings and signs along Route 66.

Take an hour or so, put blinders on, step out the door and shoot what you see. Then take note of your compositions and shoot again. Now, get back in the house and get things done!

Happy Holidays!

A look at the number of one's posts says a lot about how much photography they actually have time for.

Carry a camera with you at all times, and you will find plenty of moments during your errands to capture interesting stuff with your camera. Rather than a bulky, cumbersome DSLR, a compact camera you can slip in and out of your coat pocket is ideal for this.

This is the time of year where exposure to elements becomes more important than the exposure triangle.

No, that will take precedence over housework, etc. But, then, being single helps a lot.

you have the Ashokan, Cooper lake, Wilson park, Phonecia for some solid standbys. Sometimes the grass is green in our own backyard. :)

I think it is a rare person who REALLY does not have time to do small things we like to do, me included. I often think and even tell friends I didn’t have time to do something. In reality I just didn’t want to do it.

I was in the middle of the Thomas fire North of Los Angeles. I have thought many times about photographing the fire and related incidents, both night and day. The truth is I have plenty of time and desire but simply don’t want to go out. Who among us is so lacking for time that we cannot get out for a few minutes? We make the choice to do something else instead.

Dennis
