It shouldn't come as a huge surprise I suppose. Cell phones have improved more quickly than DSLR technology and I have watched enough Adobe TV to watch their Evangelists do amazing things with iPhone shots.

I think this does not bode well for people who manufacture and sell cameras but I will will give up my D7100 when they pry it from my cold dead hands so I'm nor too concerned about where the images are coming from.

Yes with the appropriate attachment* and an App for long exposure, it can.

*The attachment would be a telescope with a clock drive.
