Well if youve got a mac and just want to get pics over to it, the easiest way is to put the sd card into the mac and then open the photos app.....it will show you all your pics and give you the option of importing them...you can then put them into an album. You can do a similar thing with lightroom if you have it. I have the rx10m4 and have a lot of the options turned off....you wont need a lot of them......I dont use the touchscreen which is also turned off.......had a load of problems caused by my nose catching the touchscreen and changing the focus point...very irritating

Good at just about everything.....great lens , not too heavy, pretty good in low light, great image quality
A few shots Ive taken with it.....all at full zoom apart from the landscape shot.
It would be an improvement if you had the ability to zoom in when the focus is locked as in a dslr but apart from that...no gripes at all and no lugging heavy lenses about.

Im grateful for the interesting replies here but I think some responses have missed the fact that my problem stemmed from the fact that somehow the iso setting had been changed. The camera is now working exactly as it has for the last two years.
If you know what your going to shoot, know when your going to shoot it, and have plenty of time, then full manual is probably the way to go.
Its not something I use much because most of my shots are done on the hoof, usually when Im travelling and time is usually of the essence.

Hi...Thanks for the quick replies.
From your comments I have concluded I am a total idiot.
Id assumed the iso was set to auto 100-1600....which it always is. However on further inspection I find it is infact set to iso 1000.....Im desperately trying to think of a family member to blame...but Im having trouble finding one!
Cheers

On a recent trip to the lake district I found the rx10m4 had started acting strangely.
I usually shoot in aperture mode mainly due to the fact that the camera doesnt like slow shutter speeds in daylight.Ive always assumed that is because of the abscence of a built in nd filter although Ive never really experienced that in a dslr. Slow shutter speeds result in well overexposed images.
So I basically shoot at f4 usually, auto iso...100-1600 and metering is entire screen average rather than multi which Ive previously had good results with.
I noticed during shooting that for some reason the camera had started to select ridiculously high shutter speeds at f4 in lighting conditions which were dull, cloudy and a bit hazy. Shutter speeds varied from 1/5000 to 1/16000 which is what the attached photo was taken at.
In the past Ive found the camera does usually underexpose and Ive often increased the exposure by a couple of stops but never experienced the shutter speed issue. By the way the iso remained fairly constant at iso1000.
Nobody wants to be taking landscapes at 1/16000....does anybody know whats going on?
Cheers

I have a huwaei p30 pro and a sony rx10m4.
The phone is a useful tool but in no way compares to the sony...I can always tell if a photo has been taken with the phone even in raw mode.
Like others have said, its also easier to frame a shot with a camera especially if your shooting moving objects.
However I can perfectly understand the different point of view

Hi...yes I downloaded them onto my mac as I always do...but that was it. It was just these particular photos that ended up on google photos. Others that I've taken with that camera havnt.
Its a mystery and Ill probably never solve it.
Thanks for your interest anyway

Hi...Nope..........never transferred them to my phone.........although I did have a sony phone at the time I cant think that would have anything to do with it. As I said....its only recently I even knew about google photos.

A while ago I noticed some unconnected photos Id taken with a Sony rx100m3 had miraculously turned up in google photos. At the time I didnt use google photos and neither had I downloaded a Sony app which Ive since read can enable you to upload photos via wifi directly from the camera.
There seems to be no logical explanation and its bugging me.
Any ideas from any budding Sherlock Holmes' out there would be greatly appreciated.

Ive had 4 top end full frame cameras 2 canon and 2 nikon together with top lenses. I bought the best lenses for them etc but eventually became sick of changing lenses and the general weight of lugging them around.
I bought the rx10m4 and havnt looked back.....superb image quality, manageable weight and for my kind of photography......mainly spur of the moment travel shots.....its been incredible. I take better shots now than before and generally more keepers without any discernable difference in image quality.
A 24-70 plus a full frame will probably give better night/low light shots but the rx10m4 certainly isnt bad at all upto iso 3200 from a noise point of view.
If your in any doubt I always think Flickr is a good starting point to see how a camera fairs in the real world.
Most of my recent shots on flickr have been taken with the rx10m4.
