Does anyone have experience with this camera? I would appreciate comments pro and con. Thanks.

Pro^2.
If I could only have 1 camera this would be the one.
The "one inch" sensor is too small to compete with the high-end cameras - mirrorless and DSLR but the ergonomics make up for that.
If you have any doubt, rent one.
You will see lot's of comments here from those who have one and also on the internet. But see for yourself. That is why I own one - I rented it first.

In 2016 I purchased a Sony RX10 III because I was tired of carrying my Nikon D500 while travelling. Since I first bought it, it has become not only my travel camera but my go-to camera. It fits my needs so well, I am considering selling all my Nikon equipment! Follow the advice of a6k and rent one. You'll be a convert.

I also am interested in the Sony RX IV or perhaps the III. I have always been a Sony user and currently have the Sony DSC-HX50V that I am totally disappointed with as I have missed some great photos of my active grandchildren due to focusing issues, probably some of which is my fault. Even with this disappointment, I still want to upgrade to the Sony RX series. Living in a rural area it is difficult to get to a shop that has one that I can pick up and sense how it feels in my petite hands. Id rather not order one and hope it feels right in my grasp. So, until then, I will await my purchase of the RX series. If there is something of equal quality out there, I’d really like to do research and hear comments to compare.

I have it and love it. As long as you are aware of it's 1 inch sensor's limitations, nothing beats it in it's class. I no longer lug my camera body(s) and lenses around for daily trips. My RX100VI makes a great second camera for when I need a discrete pocketable one. It's basically the same camera with a shorter zoom. Only downside for me is it's price (both cameras).

Judy - Go to the website "Photography Life" and click on the "Reviews" tab. You will have to scroll through several pages but they have done first class reviews on both the RX10 Mark VI and about 14 pages back on the RX10 Mark IV. I have owned and used the RX 10 M II for several years and it is a tremendous little camera. I am picking up a lightly used M IV today to update my kit and this is the model I would recommend...it reportedly has very fast auto focus and should fit your needs. Also, both Adorama and B&H Photo have this model in their "Used" dept. at reasonable prices.

I was also interested & rented the RX10 VII to take to Costa Rica, leaving my A7iii at home (I don't have a really long lens). I was disappointed, at the long end, I got very soft photos. Low light was bad, but I had anticipated it might be a challenge in the rain forest. On the other hand, it was good at medium range. And it was very convenient on the trip - no lugging around a big rented lens.

But on our Alaska trip this summer, I'll be renting a 200-600 and figuring out how to lug it around...

Jederick..thank you!
I’m curious...what would be a reason that these higher priced cameras would be in the “used” category?
Is it safe to assume they were merely traded in for an upgrade? Or could other reasons apply.
How safe is it to spend big bucks on used equipment vs. a few more bucks for the safety of new and the warranties that come with them?

I've the iii and it's a wonderful camera and usually the one I grab for hikes etc. If it had a bigger sensor and a B setting I would get rid of the rest of my cameras.

Try renting one from Borrow Lenses or LensPro to Go. Both will ship to you and they make it easy for you to ship back.

The Sony RX10 IV is my go to travel and sports camera, because of the lens reach and portability. Its just so easy to grab it and GOOOOOO. Buy an extra battery and an external charger. My big complaint with the Sony is no good way to transfer pics from camera via bluetooth or wifi. The software Sony makes you use is not par. You would think Sony would offer a decent interface but if they do I have not found it.

It’s simply the best bridge camera in the world! I own this camera and respectfully disagree with this poster. My images are tack sharp at 600mm and the camera functions very well in low light situations. I recommend a monopod when shooting at 600mm but it’s not necessary. The M4 has amazing tracking abilities the same as their flagship a9 and also has animal eye focusing! It can’t be beat!

Sorry he said RX10vii which isn’t made. Perhaps he meant RX100vii?
