I have imported a large # of old JPG files into Lightroom recently. I then went through them and added keywords for location, activities, and also did face recognition and added names. My question is this. When you add keywords or names to a JPG photo in Lightroom, does Lightroom automatically add them to the actual JPG file? I ask this because if I look at the directory the file is located in using File Explorer in Windows 10 on a PC, the file structure has a column named "Tags" and my keywords are listed within that column. And also, if I hover my mouse over the filename, the keywords also show up. The reason I am asking is that when my pictures are passed on to my children, they most likely will not have Lightroom or my Lightroom Catalog but I am hoping they would still see the Keywords I have attached to each photo. I do understand that if I do any development or cropping of the photo, I would need to export that to a new JPG in order to have that information captured within the JPG file. Thanks for any enlightenment you can add to this.

I am simply an amateur photographer. Loosing an image is only heartbreak, not a financial loss.
I use Acronis and do regular backups to two external drives. I do not use their cloud service.
I want to add a cloud backup service and was going to use my free Prime Photos, but they do not backup my RW2 raw format (LUMIX).

I do not want to spend a fortune, but I will pay for safe, reliable and easy usage. Customer service is important when you need it as well.

So far I have only looked at Acronis and Backblaze, so would like opinions on any/all options. Feel free to direct me to links if this has been hashed to death. All my search pulled up were older threads (2016/17).

I use Amazon Drive to do automated backups of my Photos directory. It stores my raw file and any JPEGs I have created. There are no size limits on the photos. There is a size limit for files other than photos, such as video. You can view the files with the Amazon Photos app. All this is included with Amazon Prime.

The real irony is this is a digital photo and there is a roll of film on the shelf behind the young lady.

I sometimes export my adjusted raw file as a JPG to the same directory and have LR set to stack the files and to add the JPG to the library. When I do this it works fine. However, if I then tell LR to synchronize that folder, it tells me the JPG I just created, which I can view, is a missing file and it wants to remove it from the catalog. If I say "synchronize", it does remove it from the catalog, but it does not remove it from the hard drive. It will then not allow me to reimport that JPG to the catalog. I have a different catalog and this does not happen in that catalog. How can I get this changed. The JPG should not be detected as a "missing photo" since it is in the catalog and it is on the drive and I just created it. I have attached a sequence of screen shots to show my export settings and the results.

These 10 shots can be made with any shutter speed? In other words, a speed of 1/125 could be used, but in Lightroom combining the shots will blur the water?

You would need to do this post process in photoshop. I don’t think it can be done in Lightroom.

In the future, you could do this. Take one picture with the subject seated at correct exposure. Then have him move out of frame and take about 10 shots at a correct exposure. In post, average the 10 shots which will give a close result to the blurred water effect. Then with a mask add the subject back in on top. The final result will be a crisp clear subject and water that is blurred. I use this for fountains and waterfalls when I have a photo op but no tripod or ND filters with me.

I have fond memories of the darkroom smell. I loved it.

What about using 2 graduated filters overlapped in Lightroom to lighten up the center dark area of sky. You could use the brush to keep the effect away from the ground.

I like the new format. How will we chose which to use?

I use the built in backup software in Windows 10 and have no problems with it. I backup to a 2 Tb My Passport external drive.
