table saw to cut acrylic

Acrylic sure makes a mess on the table saw, doesn't it? All of that shredded plastic plus the static electricity make cleanup a chore. Try scoring it with an acrylic cutting knife made for the purpose. The sheets snap cleanly.

I'm finding Lightroom (2015-3 release) on my older iMac computer to be very sluggish with these large files . . . I would appreciate suggestions on the best workflow to solve this problem.

I use Bridge as a first step in the workflow. It's faster than Lightroom and allows culling, renaming, keywording, ACR adjustments. You're generating smaller previews which speeds things up.

Yes, that is strange. As you may know, I tend to be dissatisfied with many names used for camera/computer products. If you try to Google something about Apple Photos, Google thinks you're just looking for information about photographs - photos.

Looking for Apple Photos info on Google?
Try "Apple Photos".

You can also save as TIFF and get the ultimate universally recognized format, not much larger than a 48-bit PNG. The only thing missing is a transparency layer that nobody uses to print an image.

You CAN save a TIFF file with transparency. It will be a larger file than one with an opaque background, but if you have a transparent background in a Photoshop file, TIFF with transparency is one of the SAVE AS options.

I found the same thing. So, I used the "Snipping Tool" in Windows and saved it that way.

There is a "Save" button on the left side which sends a copy back to you via browser download.

In working with commercial clients, any reference to Photoshop has become more dismissive than derogatory - in my experience. The request (command, really) to "photoshop this" is less an acknowledgement of skill and more a taking for granted of technological "tricks of the trade". They are under the impression that the application rules the process and that all the practitioner needs to know is which filter to apply or slider to adjust. Unfortunately, this goes for a number of photographers who don't get into post-processing themselves. I am constantly having deficiencies in the image referred to as Photoshop opportunities.

Could you post a shot of your DIY lighting setup?

Taking a JPEG and opening it up into a "roomier" raw format like DNG doesn't change the information in the JPEG. Ever notice when you open a JPEG in Photoshop the file size in the lower left corner of your window shows a much larger number than the JPEG itself? Similar situation. You can even go to Image/Mode and save the file to 16 bit or 32 bit, but it won't improve the color depth of the original.

I am having an internal debate with myself and I would like your opions to help clarify my thinking. Thank you.
I will have the means to aquire another camera. I am debating between two, (remember I am a Sony shooter) the A6000 or the A7RII.

According to rumors, SONY may release a successor to the A6000 with a higher density chip and image stabilization. I know waiting for upgrades like this is a fool's mission, but CES is just 3 days away, and SONY is bound to have an announcement one way or the other.

Recently bought the III, which was hundreds less than the IV.
Only difference was the video capabilities, which don't interest me.

The IV has a much higher resolution EVF than the III (2.4mp vs 1.4mp)

I have 3 backups including a 5 gig WD and Apple's airport utility. I recently bought Carbonite for 3 years at a deal and it has backed up my Mac and photos. I can access and restore photos and docs from it at any time. I just recently shot some pics and processed them in LR and Carbonite already had backed them up automatically.

It's good to hear about cloud alternatives even if the response is a bit OT. I think the distinction between LAN and Cloud will begin to dissolve as high speed broadband gets faster and more widely available.
I have Macs and use Apple's Time Machine. I also use Chronosync specifically for work files. It's available for Windows.

. . . I know there are plenty of books for Canon and Nikon, is there the same for the Sony A6000?

Gary Fong has an online 2 hour tutorial that uses a "virtual camera" interface. I was looking closely at this camera a while ago and almost bought one, until I heard that the newer model version would include image stabilization and possibly more pixels on the sensor.

Here is a quote from his web page:
"This 2-hour video course share information provided in the user manual and guides you into turning your simple Sony a6000 camera into one of the most powerful imaging tools available. Through detailed feature explanations, live models and real-life situations Gary Fong walks you through what each feature and menu on this camera do and how to optimize your camera for the best results.."

TV news announced last night that anyone who either purchases a drone or has a done they have already purchased must register it with the federal government or face penalties if not registered by that date. I think it was sometime in February of next year. Some may see this as a form of censorship, others may just see it as another tax or registration fee as you would pay for a vehicle. I guess the federal government now owns the air around and above us too.

I've got no problem with drone registration. If one crashes through my window, I'd want to know who it belongs to. The registration fee is only $5 for as many drones an individual owns.

Okay. Why, then, did you title it: Drones and Censorship?

The article used those words in its title.
BTW, what drew you to the post in the first place?
