I built a light tent with some pvc pipe, an old bed sheet and 3 clamp on lamps from Home Depot with 61Y6 Daylight compact fluorescent bulbs. These are some of my first shots.

This is one of my cameras, looks like I need to clean it, shown with a 50mm manual lens. I do have 2 or 3 auto lenses but I prefer my old manual prime lenses. I learned to shoot with a Pentax K1000 (fully manual). Nothing fancy or top shelf in my camera bag, yet. Someday when I get better at this hobby I'd like to upgrade too better equipment.

Photographed with Pentax K10d tripod mounted, "Kit" lens Pentax-DAL 1:3.5-5.8 18-55mm, f32, 3 sec, ISO 100, 38mm, No Flash.

+++++++++++++++

Yes!

Do post a photo in four or five views of the set-up you are making use of.

I like all kinds of DIY projects - especially in these winter months.

Do a web search for Dean Collins' FineLight and *Tinkertubes*. I learned lighting from Dean. He built all sorts of cool lighting instruments and modifiers from PVC, CPVC, Rosco Soft Frost material, and a few odds and ends. I made several of the items in his book. Sheer geniusry!

Thank you for introducing me to some new information. I did a search and Dean Collins has built some really neat thing. I will search out more about him.

I found a link to download his book "Tinker Tubes" in PDF format for free and gave it a quick glance. Will be reading it tonight.

i would avoid fluorescent lighting, as it pulses and is not constant. go with a couple of photo flood bulbs. this will work much better for you.
