Jumping in on this thread....
The Manfrotto 234RC is rated for load of 5.51 pounds. Is there another recommended head with a higher load rating (say for a Nikon D800E with telephoto lens)? Thank you.

I have owned the D800E for 6 months now and bought it with the $300 discount promo. I will keep it for now even though the D810 has some nice improvements.

Welcome another SF Bay area resident. The rainbow colors are so appropriate.

I installed it on my windows 8.1 laptop several weeks ago from the disc without any problems. I used Elements 12 just a few times so am still learning.

Guigly, your exact thoughts have also crossed my mind. I see the same kind of "behaviours" in emails at work as well and I try to be tolerant as I know we get all kinds of folks from all walks of life. I find this site to be the best and that includes all the "negatives". There are other sites that are in my opinion better behaved but they do not provide the wealth of info I get here. You just have to sort out what works for you and let the other stuff go. Thank you.

Finally persistence paid off and reached the right person at B&H. Dave S. was able to price match ABT.com. Other person I spoke to said ABT did not have free shipping on same item so he could not do the match. However, I double checked with ABT and they confirmed that the laptop did qualify for free shipping. I called B&H back and connected with Dave S. Thanks Dave S. at B&H!!

Yes, exact same model number at ABT.com.

Purchased a new Nikon camera back in Dec. 2013 from B&H Photo and waited the qualifying period for my 4% Reward Gift card. During this time an ASUS laptop that I had my eye on fluctuated in price with a low of $999. When I finally received my reward gift, the laptop was at $1036. I found that ABT.com had same exact unit for $1019 and sent an email to B&H requesting a price match. B&H responded that they would not match the price. I am disappointed with B&H.

Must be some awesome megapixels (gigapixels)on this one! Does shooting RAW require a mainframe to process the images?

I bought my D800e from B&H this month and am very happy with them. Waiting for my reward points to kick in to make my next purchase.

You can extract the embedded JPG from the NEF file for now. But why not just upgrade ViewNX2, it only takes a few minutes (plus download time, depending on your connection speed). No need to wait for the new laptop.

Hi Amehta,
I might just do that once I get the nerve. I just hate doing anything on my old Windows desktop. It is slow, still running XP. Thanks.

I own the D800 and should have bought the D800E. Nice first shots and I thought the first shot of the Bee was excellent and the others were also very good. Shoot RAW!

Hi Bill,

I usually shoot raw, but I found my version of ViewNX2 on an old desktop would not allow me to edit the NEF images from my D800E. I plan to get a new laptop next month and will install the new ViewNX2 on it. Once I know it can edit NEF, I will switch to only RAW. Until then I am shooting RAW + JPG. Thank you.

I have just bought the D800E as well. Still getting used to it. It looks like you have it set to around 3200 ISO?

Hi Saxkiwi,

The bee and deer pics were taken with 800 ISO. My dog was taken with 200 ISO.

These were my very first shots with the new camera, trying out some of my lens. I wanted to see how sharp I can get my shots. You will love your D800E. Thanks.
