Or...just set up a mirror, one of those 12x48 inch ones at Walmart. Stand it about 6 inches to the left of the lens. That's what many model shoots have been doing for years. Yes, the image is backwards but that is how people are used to seeing themselves. A large monitor will be backwards from how they see themselves. And being so close to the lens is almost as being exact with a monitor. IMHO..... Nyms

Honestly thought you said Nikon. Clicked on the link and was confused... Scrolled down still looking for a common sneaker with Nikon on the side... Signed, a natural blonde... Nyms

I would have shot vertical as well...and would have been wrong. Your cropping of the photo, and very well, by the way, accentuates the power of the snow, making it beyond the standard 'top of the light pole' shot. And by moving the light slightly off centre gives the snow 'room to blow' as done in many professional motion shots. You have really done a great job with this. I was a college photography instructor...so you get an A+...!! Nyms

If you want to donate the Minolta's, the filmphotographyproject.com collects used film cameras to give to high school photography classes. And they don't charge for them. You can go to their site and email Mike Raso. After looking at their film site, with film podcasts every 15 days, and many new types of films to try, you may decide to keep them and work with film again. Most of my shooting is with film but sometimes digital. I began using Eastman 5222 XX b&w movie stock, an incredible film still a movie industry standard for b&w movies. Their site is incredible. I love it..!! We always had a train, AND a village under our tree. Now the village is scattered around my living room on permanent display on shelves. I love tiny buildings. Nyms

I use PSE even though I'm been a pro for many years. I've used PS and Lightroom. I don't do massive compositing or ads anymore and found that 98% of my work is only spotting, contrast, a bit of saturation, and sometimes cropping if what I cropped in the camera could be better. But very rarely do I crop. All the other stuff is wasted for my work. All the other people above here are correct. But sometimes, if she is just going to shoot with her cell phone she needs to be prepared to learn and work for better photos. It's a bit like using a paper covered plastic disposable 35mm and then wanting better photos from it. She'll have to work for it...learn composition, at least. I know phones are simple, and CAN take great photos but it also may be time for a decent digital point and shoot. I have many Nikons down to toy plasticams that I like to shoot with, like the Time Magazine Official NewsCam. But my go-to camera is a Nikon P60 digital point and shoot. It does everything when I just want snapshots or ebay photos. I've even dismantled some of it to replace the screen when something in my purse smashed it. That's how much I like the little thing. Alas, I ramble... I like PSE for simple editing. Nyms

I prefer the B&W photo... I've done colour for years and in my opinion this year is that very old things seem to interest me more if they're in B&W. But this isn't a rule or anything... Nyms

If you don't know what to shoot, do 'portraits' of all your camera gear. That's what I'm doing now. I also put my digital stuff on hold and use my antique camera collection. I'm using a 1925 Kodak 127 Vest Pocket Hawkeye. One shutter speed, four f stops. A tiny folding camera that really makes you think about light and exposures...no point and shoot high speed shutter. I make 127 from 120...the remnant is reloaded into 110 carts...

I wonder how many retailers have a contract with UPS that explicitly requests them to throw packages over fences or to sit on them?

Not many, but we all know somebody that it's happened to!
https://youtu.be/89oogoOeLhc?t=24

and USPS / FedEx aren't beyond blame, either https://youtu.be/ZlUJmT2h3-4?t=4

UPS claimed they delivered a 40lb VOX amplifier...everyone began the search process and found, after two days, a 'new guy' threw it over my side fence. I checked and it was upside down near a gate.... The box had dew all over it but luckily it hadn't rained on it. It still worked, though....

First off, 'tis the season to rob doorsteps blind. I've never had problems with Adorama. UPS..? I've made calls to them about our delivery people NEVER even knocking. So on the day the web notification shows up I have to watch the doorstep like a hawk. On several occasions a sticker was left saying no one was home. Our deliveries are at 7pm or so. Got in my car, beat it to the next couple of blocks, found the guy, he said he knocked, I said give me the package. It was buried deep. I guess he couldn't get to it so he just left a sticker. I realize they are always busy. I'm surprised they get anything delivered. I NEVER use their insurance on stuff I send out because whenever they break or lose something they blame ME...they never pay up. Insurance is just a pacifier till you need it. I use Priority Mail unless it's big, then I pray. I think your package was stolen. I wish you luck.

I buy a lot of different films from www.filmphotographyproject.com. I buy from all over for film but I use ebay, B&H, etc. I also MAKE my own 127 and 110. I use antique Kodak 127 cameras, such as a 1925 Kodak Vest Pocket Hawkeye, a folder about the size of an audio cassette when it's closed. I made a splitter for 120 to 127 film and the remnant is 16mm, which is 110 film. I reload the old 110 cassettes. My Minolta 110 ZOOM SLR doesn't need the sprocket holes. I also use a 100ft roll of Eastman 7222 b&w movie film. This is the 16mm version of the 35mm Eastman 5222, which I ALSO use from a 100ft roll. It's been bulk loaded into 35mm reload cassettes. I process ALL of my film, b&w, colour, slides, negatives. The chemical kits for colour slides and negatives is a 3 bath process just like b&w only it's a hot bath 105 degree kitchen sink process. All the same hardware as b&w. You should try it. You can get the kits from www.filmphotographyproject.com. They will even sell you cleaned 1 litre water bottles for 35 cents each so you don't have to hunt down brown ones. Just keep them in a dark box. The Darkroom, with scanning, costs about $20 a roll with shipping. But a C41 kit (about $22) and a E6 kit ($33) one can get 10 rolls, possibly as much as 18 for me, it's worth it to try it yourself. I use a $120 Wolverine F2D Mighty scanner from Amazon because it's tiny and can do 35mm, 127, 110, and 8mm stills from your old home movies. For 120 and long format antique 127 (4cm x 6, 8, 9cm, I use the glass and lightbox and digital 'take a picture' method. Film Photography Project also has 4x5, 8x10,120, 110, and experimental films. (no, I don't work for them) Also new film podcasts every 15 days that are an hour or longer. But try developing your own colour....you'll be quite surprised at the ease and low cost per roll...less that $3 a roll for 12+ slides, just like in the olde days..... Nyms
