My first Pentax was a P30T bought at Luke AFB in Phoenix. Lost it in brush in Sedona area, strap caught on brush and pulled it out of a waste bag. Replaced by a PZ-20. Then I started collecting Pentax. I have about 80 bodies from 110's to 6x7's. I am now on my 4th digital, a K-1 with a 24-70 2.8 that I use for about 98% of my shots. I agree that the 50mm 1.7 is a great lens. I think I have 2 A's and 1 M copy of this lens. My favorite body is the LX followed by the MX. The old 50mm lenses have such smooth focus damping that I like to just sit and adjust focus on them.

While you're in Sedona, stop by Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village. A very photogenic place.

Very true.

I lived in Flagstaff for 25 years and spent probably 10 times more time in Sedona area than the GC. Sedona has more diversity and is more accessible. There are a number of National parks that don't have the scenery that is around Sedona. So far Oak Creek Canyon has not been mentioned, You could spend your 3 days in it and not see all there is to see. Start with Indian Head Arch and Slide Rock State Park.

You will have to pay the park entrance fee to get to the motel and that will let you take the drive yourself tour. I have driven that route in my Buick Roadmaster at least twice with no problems. The paid tours take you deeper into the valley and stops at a couple of arch's that you can't see any other way.

Toadstools is about 40 miles east of Kanab toward Page. It is about 1/4 mile walk from the highway. It has some great hoodoos and color. Old Paria town site, movie site and pioneer cemetery is short drive off highway 89 close to the Toadstools. BLM has visitors centers both in Kanab and Big Water. Lots of info at them. Just a few miles east of Kanab is Johnson's Canyon. Grosvenor Arch is also worth a side trip. Kanab sits in a photo rich area with a lot of history \.

The first one because it tells the story better. The water reflections are very good.

Welcome Annie. I have K5lls As has been said Pentax makes great cameras. Best bang for the buck. Many legacy lens available. One of my best is an A50/1.7. Cost about 30 bucks. Enjoy the ride.
O, click QUOTE REPLY as I did so we will know to whom you are responding.

I have been shooting Pentax since 92 and own about 60 bodies. Every thing from screw mount to my current K-1. The only time any of them saw the repair shop was a PZ-20 the got imersed along with me in the West Fork of Oak Creef north of Sedona. It still works today.

The A50mm 1.7 is the sharpest lens that I own out of approximately 45 lenses. The 50mm 2.0's are good but are behind the 1.7.

The gas price fixing scam was investigated in Flagstaff, Az about 20 years ago and the results were; one man owns all the stations except the Maverick. So he set what ever and when ever prices he wanted, end of story.

If you don't like crowds visit in December. The first week of Dec 2018 we spent most of a day in Needles section of CL NP and saw one man working on the restrooms. Our only interaction was with a crow/raven that followed us around.

Valley of Fire is North of Vegas toward Utah. The color and comp on your photos make me want to go back there again. Great stuff.
