I’m off to China, Tibet and Hong Kong and am thinking about what lenses to take with me. As you all know, somehow the pull of gravity increases as we get older so weight is a consideration. I’ll be taking my D7100 with a Nikon 18-200 as my primary lens. I also plan on taking my Nikon 10-20 which is great for landscapes as well as crowded cities. Do you think I should also include my 35mm 1.8 in my kit. I’ve taken it on other trips and not used it very often. My other concern is with changing lenses often. I’ve often ended up with sensor dust which is tough to deal with when traveling. I always bring a blower and this trip I’m bringing a sensor cleaning kit.

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

I travel every year to The Peoples Republic of China to spend tyme with my in laws and have never viewed the Great Wall...the air pollution is greatly improving from year to year...thank you for sharing.

I related to every column in this paper, it was most amusing that the GM engineers were amused at the Japanese thought they could build a automobile.

I believe you to be “incorrect” on this. I use a RRS ball on my carbon fiber MONO-POD, consistently. The combination is great. A ball on a mono-pod allows for a vast variety of situations & positions for stability. One simply has to be familiar with ones’ equipment, and shooting with a ball on a mono-pod is JUST “equipment to be handy with”. Give it some thought! RJM

I do the same as you....I also wrap my camera strap around my wrist or over my neck...

Reading this drivel I’m reminded of that mid 1970s song by Jerry Jeff Walker, “ Up Against The Wall You Redneck Mother”.

I am interested in learning where people read their national/political/opinion news.
Especially those living in middle America. I read from the New York Times, Washington
Post, Wall Street Journal and the Drudge Report which links to world-wide sources.
Some times I will check the LA Times or the Chicago Trib. Occasionally, some British
newspapers. These sources form a pretty comprehensive view of national and political
events but a more narrow view in political commentary. So where are others getting
their daily information.

You are talking about an 18th Century man. The culture was different, the thinking was different and they were raised and lived their lives immersed in that culture and thinking. You cannot judge other times and places by your own modern thought. You can say something they thought and did is not right by our modern mores but you should not judge the people because they lived in and by the norms of their times.

And that culture did produce many great ideas, many of which we haven't even finished implementing today. It is still a work in progress. What counts is the "progress" part.
"That all men are created equal." They knew it wasn't a fact yet, it was a goal to work towards. They also knew it was not a statement of real equality in all things. It was an equality of the right to strive to the best of your ability. Equality of rights, not equality of results. Equality of results is an impossible idea. Would you care to go a round or two with the heavyweight boxing champion? That will prove that you and he are not equal physically and athletically but you do have the same rights.

Another little tic bit about Neil Armstrong. Whilst at Purdue he always carried a slide rule, that was the calculator of the tyme, when he was getting ready for the moon launch he was told that his slide rule had to stay behind because they had onboard computers to do the calculations....Neil told the “wizards” that he trusted his slide rule over some piece of electronic brain. As the launch proceeded he used his sliderule and as the flight proceeded he never believed the on board computers it was the slide rule he trusted.
Just a little factoid

jdm,

What are your main reasoning for replacing your Mac Book?. If your looking for a larger SSD with no other operating system malfunctions I would contact OWC, ask for tech guys, tell them what you presently have and where you would like your Mac Book to go....they will advice you of what route to take that will be cost effective for you and hook you up with vastly improved performance.

Just sayin,
