Thanks for your nice comment. I don't recall the lens settings for this picture but it was taken with a Canon 50D and a Canon EF 24-105mm 1:4L IS USM lens.

Ditto, all the previous comments! Care to share some shot information? Camera (assume you were using your 5D MkIII), lens, settings?

Or... an OUTSTANDING value on a refurb T3i with 18-55 lens for $336!

All include free shipping and one year Canon warranty.

I would not hesitate to purchase refurbs from Canon they always arrive boxed like new with all original accessories.

My last 4 Canons were bought from their refurb site. All were like new. They frequently run sales where the refurbs are discounted. For example, right now, you can find a 60D body for $431.

I carry the manual around with me for my camera in PDF format on my phone and any other device I have.

I do the same. You'd be surprised how familiar you'll become with the camera by just having the manual always available as a quick resource.

I use a Dell U2413

I have the same monitor and am very satisfied. Monitor and printer (cheap Canon 350) reasonably matched. Using PSE 11 & LR 5.5.

Went to the Canon website last night and looked at what refurb sales they are running. SL1 body is $360, kit with 18-55 is $450. G15 for $324. I personally bought a SX50 HS for $310. Canon refurbs have served me well.

My camera does not take awesome pictures, just OK ones. Should I buy a new one?

Good idea. One can buy quite a few pictures for the cost of one high end camera. But, after four days, would you know how to fish?

Hard cups are beneficial, that's for sure. My books are of both varieties. Kindles and iPads are especially handy for being the one place to keep pristine copies of all equipment manuals.

After spending 15 minutes going through 6 pages of postings, I can only conclude that a new set of clubs will begat me a better golf game. Thx all, especially Rong...... for turning on the light and shutting down the driving range!

Toy? No, no, a new camera is like a Black and Decker Dustbuster. You never knew who much you "need" it until you got it!! Think tool. :^)

Scott Kelby about $36 on amazon or barnes and noble

Bought the same book. Little tricky to follow in spots (for me, anyway). All the same, an excellent resource.

Michael Covington has a couple that I've checked out from our local library . They are pretty pricey if you purchase them. Amazon, however, has used that are reasonable. Good luck!

I would highly recommend you get Jeff Revell's book: "Canon EOS Rebel T5i / 700D: From Snapshots to Great Shots". When I jumped back in to photography in May 2013, I had no clue as to what to do with my EOS Rebel T3i. I bought his book for that camera, read it cover to cover (three times!), and when I was done, I was familiar with my camera, exposure, and the basics of photography. I think his books are highly underrated, but they are just the thing for someone just starting out.

I have this book for the Canon 60d and 70D. The series is an excellent resource for both novice and experienced. Excellent suggestion. +++1
