A question... Why are so many folks so keen to answer "Buy" as a solution???

In almost every thread I see there is always someone who answer buy this or buy that.

This drives me up the wall. There are other solutions than 'buying'. If you suffer from GAS, please do not spread that ridiculous disease just because you have it.

Often a Do It Yourself (DIY) works just as well and way cheaper. The goes for hardware, software and whatever in between you can think of.

Also the most expensive gear does not insure anything other than flatten your wallet so why answer 'buy this'? Because this is not your wallet?

The latest example I have in mind was a UHH displaying his new gear. Cost of his stuff, about $2,000.00. I have the same type of gear. Cost $90.00. It does the same thing for god's sake. For that money ($2,000.00) this person could have been the king of UHH by buying 22 of mine and give away 21 of them and still get the same result, making 21 folks very happy.

So, spend wisely as we all know 'fools and their money are quickly parted'.

Just do not assume we are all fools willing to drop load of dough for what? Basically junk with a better paint job?

I am venting, that is all.

Isn't that what a forum like UHH is for? It's cheaper than a therapist. Perhaps we should start charging to post, by the character (meaning letter, not a personal assessment of the contributor).

On the other hand "buy" (meaning retail therapy) is a great way to avoid dealing with real underlying issues...

:-)

So why did you vent here? Nobody cares!
Folks come on here and ask......should I buy this?!
Some answer yes, some answer no.
If you don't want to be told how to spend your money, then don't ask.
But don't put your personal shortcomings of a guilt-trip on anybody else!!
There, see, I vented too!!

Ah, thanks. Just checking. Sometimes it is us spending their money, at least here in San Francisco....,

(And please do not infer anything about my personal circumstances from that observation, it could be any one of many situations....)

Have fun!

Some people are not greedy so let them spend their money as they wish. It does help others. If people had to wait until they were 65 or 70 to inherit money maybe this would be a better country. The pioneers worked hard so why not everyone.

Interesting perspective. My wife's grandmother threw in the towel at 103, having achieved the ambition of being alive in three different centuries. She had seven kids, and six are still going strong. The youngest got taken out by a nasty infectious disease.

My mother-in-law (now 86) is my favorite party animal and only gave up swinging off scaffolding repainting her house about three years ago.

Something tells me I need to look out for myself. My wife's family has good genes, and some of them are "Tight Genes!"

Me, I'd rather have my mother-in-law's company than her money.
