So why did you vent here? Nobody cares!
Folks come on here and ask......should I buy this?!
Some answer yes, some answer no.
If you don't want to be told how to spend your money, then don't ask.
But don't put your personal shortcomings of a guilt-trip on anybody else!!
There, see, I vented too!!
SS
That is about what camera to buy but about 'how to do this or that'.... Enterprising UHH folks have published thread over their 'inventions' that are economical, ingenious and work. No big $$$ Just good old DIY.

Some people are not greedy so let them spend their money as they wish. It does help others. If people had to wait until they were 65 or 70 to inherit money maybe this would be a better country. The pioneers worked hard so why not everyone.
It is not THEIR money for god sake.

Curiosity, perhaps?

Do we have a dead cat counter here?

Oh, wait, this isn't really a video forum, is it?

In almost every thread I see there is always someone who answer buy this or buy that.

This drives me up the wall. There are other solutions than 'buying'. If you suffer from GAS, please do not spread that ridiculous disease just because you have it.

Often a Do It Yourself (DIY) works just as well and way cheaper. The goes for hardware, software and whatever in between you can think of.

Also the most expensive gear does not insure anything other than flatten your wallet so why answer 'buy this'? Because this is not your wallet?

The latest example I have in mind was a UHH displaying his new gear. Cost of his stuff, about $2,000.00. I have the same type of gear. Cost $90.00. It does the same thing for god's sake. For that money ($2,000.00) this person could have been the king of UHH by buying 22 of mine and give away 21 of them and still get the same result, making 21 folks very happy.

So, spend wisely as we all know 'fools and their money are quickly parted'.

Just do not assume we are all fools willing to drop load of dough for what? Basically junk with a better paint job?

I am venting, that is all.
In almost every thread I see there is always someo... (show quote)

I for one would appreciate someone pointing out a cheaper alternative than a path I am thinking about going down.

I am currently using a D5100 and have been so tempted to upgrade to a D7100. I think the cost of the FX's are so out of reach but I have been more acutely aware of D8XX's. With that said I have held off. Nikon had a 1 day sale on D7100's for 799 and it almost pushed me over the edge. I looked at the refurb as a benefit based on my readings here.

I too would like to see people point out a less expensive option. Given that if I hit the lottery for 100,000,000 my thoughts on this might change...just sayin'

Can you restate that in a way that most people on this forum might be able to understand? I'm confused!

Sometimes "Buy" is the best answer. If you want better low light action photos, what is the DIY solution that will work as well as faster lenses or a camera with better high ISO performance?

So someone asks you for advice into taking action picture your answer is 'buy a new camera or a faster lens?' Are there no other information to give?

You could have added: time to ask UHH members "what to buy?". You would have plenty of answers.

Is this a discussion about circular polarizers? I'm getting confused, having trouble focusing, and I can't find my wallet.

I may need help.

Perhaps that's their advice because that is what they did.

We live in a society that demands we buy, buy, buy else our 'economy' crashes. We only 'sell' to ourselves. How much of US GDP (gross domestic product) is export ? In the UK export has been decreasing for decades and telesales is a public nuisance. We are being brainwashed into constantly upgrading perfectly good items either because they have a 'short-life' component deliberately designed in or we are told that our old kit is incompatible with the latest gizmo.

Even those who 'up-cycle' have to be naff and geeky in order to be sociably acceptable so suggesting that someone merely learnes how to manage their existing tools is bordering on public heresey. (as you noticed)

good luck with this thread......best buy a hard hat or learn to duck

Are you advocating the purchase of a hard hat? (Joking)

I asked YOU what DIY solution would work better for low light action photos. You are the one that said there is usually a DIY solution that would work as well as buying better equipment. I have bought faster lenses and a camera with better low light performance and I know that worked.

DIY is an example I did not advocate building your own lenses.
