Here is a closeup shot of the face of our cat Merlin. taken with my Olympus OMD-E M10 and 14-42mm lens. Exposure was 1/2 sec. f4.8, at 30mm and 800 ISO with available light.
You can add me to the list. I have among my various cameras, an A330 with some Sony, Minolta and third party lenses. And a DCS-HX100V, 30X zoom, bridge camera. I have gotten some really nice pics with the A330 and the Minolta lenses.
This is why we have no over the air broadcast, cable or satellite at our house. We just use the TV to watch movies on DVDs or to play video games. It's been this way for about 10 years and don't miss it a bit. Besides I would rather read a good book.
I have a Panasonic DMC-G5 for sale. It is in mint condition with no marks or scratches on it. I have only used it about three times and probably has less than 200 shutter activations on it. It looks just like it did when I first took it out of the box. The only reason I'm selling it, is because I just bought an Olympus OMD-E M10. And I don't need two M4/3 ICL cameras. Everything that came with the camera will be included with the original box. Selling for $300 which will include priority USPS shipping in the CONUS. This camera is going for an average of $300 on ebay. Will take a personal check or money order which will have to clear my bank before I ship. If interested, send me a PM. Including some pics so you can see the excellent condition of this camera. Update.... Will also take PayPal if anyone is interested.
Congrats on the new camera Cliff! I got the same one a couple of weeks ago and am loving it. Looking forward to seeing some of your images captured with it in Africa. All the reviews I read on this camera before I bought it were very positive.
Here's the link, actually it was auctioned off in Vienna, Austria. The winning bidder was a Japanese business man. It was the ONLY camera to come back from a moon mission.
Smith934 stated in his reply that the closest you can focus the 18-55 lens is nine tenths of a foot. If you try to get any closer to your subject than that it will not focus. You can check your camera settings and see if there is one for macro shooting, this will help a little. But if you want to do true macro shooting, your best bet is to get a dedicated macro lens. A true macro lens will capture images in 1/1 size. In other words the image will be life size.
I don't know what kind of camera the OP is using? But a lot of the newer cameras can save jpeg and raw data to the camera's memory card at the same time. Then both formats can be downloaded on the computer and the OP can see the differences between them.
Can't beat the "price you paid for the D100. I had the D100 and the D70s, but sold both after I bought a D90. Had fun and got some nice pics with both. Of course being only 6mp sensors you can't do a whole lot of cropping or large printing.
