Gregs List Special

I have read so many times people asking what camera to buy and how much to pay. While recovering from back surgery I noticed an ad in Craigs List for a D100 for sale for not much money. I meet with the young man and offered him a excellent shape 50mm 1.8 instead of what he was asking and we made the trade. I charged the battery and made necessary adjustments and put on a $200 24-120vr lens. and took a couple of pictures from the passenger seat of the car. I thought I would share them with UHH for the purpose of showing newbes that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get into photography. I think my pictures would have been better if I would have used the 50mm I traded for the camera, but this combination will be my knock about camera in the near future when I regain my legs again. I only used light pp on these three shots, just lightening and cropping. For those of you who don't know the d100 is the predecessor of the d70 and the start of the d series Nikons. Basically a 6 meg camera. I could have been operational for under $100. I chose not to straighten the horizons and instead take a nap.

Can't beat the "price you paid for the D100.
I had the D100 and the D70s, but sold both after I bought a D90.
Had fun and got some nice pics with both.
Of course being only 6mp sensors you can't do a whole lot of cropping or large printing.

Nothing at all wrong with a D100, I actually take a lot of them in on trade because so many people like to buy them as a cheap "who cares about damage" body. The CCD sensor is terrible in low light but gives great colors in good light. One of the top 3 under $200 cameras you can find.

As you know I also shot the d700 which is one of the best low light cameras to own. Both cameras have their place but the purpose of my post is to show that you don't have to always have the latest and the greatest. I think Ken Rockwell basically said that what's in back of the camera is more important than what is in front of the photographer.

That comment hss been used by many but I think it was originally spoken by Ansel Adams.
