A tip: Humans are programmed to see faces. It's a form of protection. We see all sorts of faces in all sorts of things. It the picture above, it's easy to see that pink "nose" and the black "eye" on the right. Then we make that dark spot on the left the other eye.

Keep guessing.

Spectrum is now allowed to institute charge extra for using more data - "data caps." When it bought the company from Time-Warner, it had to wait before imposing data caps. It tried in 2021, but it was turned down by the FCC. Now, it is free to put limits on how much data we can use for the amount we are paying. Want more data? Pay more money. There's no way of knowing what they'll do, but they have the option of bringing in millions more dollars every month. Will they decide that they are already making enough money?

They are giving you speed but not the bandwidth.

You said units/sec what do you mean? If a pipe is deliver 1gal/sec regardless of how big it is it's still 1gal/sec. So what kind of unit are you talking about?

The two pipes have the same speed but the larger pipe produces more volume. In my example, the speed of the water in both pipes is the same. This represents internet speed. The larger the pipe the more volume/sec can be produced. This is the bandwidth and represents the amount of data that can be moved per unit of time. If large amounts of data, info are demanded the internet speed must provide the power to move the data packets. If the volume demand increases the internet speed may slow down. I hope this clears things up.

Your thinking is not correct. Morse code is the simplest form of data communication. It is well known that the faster Morse is sent the bandwidth of the signal increases. This increase in bandwidth is a result of the mathematics of wave forms. Modern digital signals are more complex than a Morse Signal none-the-less more bandwidth is required to send more information per unit time.

The speed of information on a wire is the speed of light reduced by a factor to account of interactions with the medium of transfer. Information travels at the speed of light in a vacuum (e.g. Radio Signals in space). Using more frequency space is required to transfer more information.

All I said was that network speed and bandwidth are not the same. This from reliable knowledge. Also see further respnses below. I did make this up out oh thin air. I was simply reporting what my research shows. Trying to help fell ow UHH members. Your respnse about Morse Code confirms the misundetstanding. Try to be more helpful in your respnses.

Internet speeds are not the same as bandwidth. Think of two water pipes with different diameters. In the smaller pipe the water is flowing at 10 units/sec. This is equivalent to Mbps download SPEED. Now look at the larger pipe where the water SPEED is the same 10 units/sec. However, the larger diameter at the same SPEED can deliver a much higher VOLUME of water. The volume of water per sec is much higher than with the small pipe. So it's BANDWIDTH is greater. Marketing folks mistakenly equate speed with bandwidth. It is really bandwidth (using above) that determines how apps perform. This is usually measured by adding up the rated bandwidth requirement of each connected device. This can be measured in info packets per sec or volume of info per second. In summary, internet speed Mbps is a measure of bit speed while true bandwidth is a measure info packets per second.

On the comparison site, it seems that I can get CBS with Sling TV. On the Sling site, I can't find it. Is CBS available with Sling?

CBS is available on Sling Air for local OTA channels.

This is something that has been going on for years. On U-Tube, on the Amazon Prime, and frankly other locations. I tried to hear a movie's audio and it comes out as a wispier, or low volume, yet when there is a commercial (U-Tube) the audio blares. I know that for some reason the providers are doing this with purpose, that is apparent.

My question is, is there anything that can be done on a standard computer like a Dell computer to increase the volume beyond the volume knob on the speaker? I have actually doped out of a film because the audio is so low I simply cannot follow the dialogue, and this is on a paid site.

There are several ways to deal with this. On the computer, look at the sound card options for volume leveling or such. On the TV menu, there may be a similar option under audio processing. These levelers may or may not provide sufficient dynamic range for wide swings in volume. In that case, you need a volume limiter, compressor or volume-dependent auto gain control. That will decrease high volume and increase low volume. Being an electrical engineer, I designed and built one of these. If you are handy building electronics I can send you the circuit diagram.

Cool set! I am envious as we only see a single hummer at a time around our house.

They are very territorial birds. I was surprised to see two on the feeder. I only see one at a time as they chase intruders off.

Not just a thought but finally the right answer.

It’s disappointing but not surprising how many responses missed this.

Thank you Selmslie. It was the first thing I considered after hearing "outside" and "fill flash". Those facts ruled out many of earlier responses.

Okay, Semi final post. I can’t post the images as examples as they are gone. AND, my old memory recalled they were using a fill flash on this Rebel T3. So, that possibly could explain my daughters issue on this day, however, she asked me because she said it happens frequently. And it happens to me, not a lot, but it happens enough that her question caused me to write the original post. And I don’t own a flash. I thought it must happen to others as well. Of course I have none of my own to share, long gone.

So I’m going to pause this thread until it happens to me again, and then post some examples. Of course, as when you go to the mechanic to have him correct an intermittent sound, his report is always “ could not duplicate”. So, if it never happens again, I guess that will be good enough.

Picture posted is my wife and I and the 18 year old graduate. Taken by the Rebel T3. Thanks for all the thoughts, perhaps we can get together again sometime in the future.

If you are using fill flash might have fired two (or more) in succession, it is possible the flash may not have fully recharged from one frame to the next. Just a thought.

Can I program it to record ahead of time, or must I press Record when the show starts? Can I tell it to record a certain show every week?

Sure, you can set up future recordings one time, same program every week, new programs only or new plus old. A series will automatically record every episode until you tell it to stop. New recordings are grouped by title in the selection matrix. Recordings may be scheduled out for several weeks in the future.

The only problem I have encountered is OTA local channels are sometimes affected by wind in the trees. That's true of all OTA systems.

Jerry, I hope this helps. If you need more info I am happy to help.

I dropped YouTube TV when they demanded a copy of my drivers license. They claimed they were rolling out a nationwide requirement, area by area, for account holders to verify their age in compliance with federal law.

I switched to Sling which is definitely an inferior service, and lacks local programming. It does however offer recording which actually works very well.

I use Sling and have the Sling Air TV device. It can record live tv to a local hard drive. Works very well for me. The regular Sling can record any program to their DVR service. The best feature: Sling integrates their programming and OTA local channels in one seamless program guide. No switching inputs.
