I've very surprised and happy using my 18-400 (focusing at 18" at the 400 end).
Do you have dust on your sensor...round spots in the waterfall?
I use the Tamron 18-400 to take shots (without tripod) of passing airliners at 30,000ft with con trails. Takes tack-sharp photos when used correctly (find something to lean on). I can read the name and logo, distinguish the colors and see the wheel panels on the underside. Impressive lens and the only one that I use lately. Happy!!
I went with the 18-400 because of the lighter weight. !.7 lb versus 5 lb.
I've got hundreds of shot of the sun, mostly around sundown but have many mid-afternoon etc and I've never damaged my sensor (on numerous cameras). Usually use a pretty quick shutter speed.
Doubters....you can see pictures of, or including, the sun everywhere. How do you think that they're made?
I don't get the title of this shot-at all.
If you are afraid of the new technology ...why would you even consider buying a top of the line camera??? Go rent one.
Reflect (as in reflection) means that the mirror reflects light.
Reflex means that the mirror flips up out of the way so that the light can pass onto the sensor.
2 different words...2 different meanings
Single Lens Reflex !!!!!
If I had money....I tell you what I'd do: I'd go downtown and buy a Mercury too! (I'm crazy 'bout a Mercury)
First thing to check: am I in manual or auto focus ?
Pawn shop owners are more picky than anyone else when it comes to buying lenses for resale.
The Meteor was a later variant of the Merlin, de-tuned down to 650 HP, and used in the Centurion tank. I was a tank mechanic back in the 60's and there is no sound quite like that of 4 or 5 Meteors running at the same time in a hanger. Sounds like a full symphony :)
