Almost bought a new D850 last Sunday.
I was at the Best Buy in Concordville, I think it's Concordville, Delaware, looking for a shortie tripod for my G1X III and they had a D850 on display. I picked it up and played with it for a few minutes and it felt good. I liked it a lot but realistically, I don't need one I just want one. It really won't give me much of anything I'd use on a daily basis I didn't already have. If I want to deal with enormous image files I'll get out my 5DSr. If I want high-speed bursts I can use my D500. I decided I'll simply wait until it goes on sale for a more reasonable price, then I'll get one for my collection.

Just wait until you can get it used from KEH. (:

A reasonable approach.

I came to the same conclusion, I will wait until my D750 dies.
With everybody going GaGa over mirrorless, you may not have too long a wait, Robyn. I can tell you that I love my D850. I sold my D800 and now have the 850 plus a Df and I couldn't be more content.
I would call that a perfect example of passing GAS. You got away with it one time!
New paintbrushes, some interesting new oils, and a fresh gleaming white canvas are all wonderful things.
It’s also somewhat surprising to note how many great works of art have been created with worn brushes, almost more turps than pigment, and painted over a used canvas.
I have an acquaintance who recently upgraded his studio equipment around a core of exclusively Hasselblad bodies and highest quality glass.
I would charitably describe him as “still searching for the Truth in Light”.

Sounds to me that you had a "sudden attack of common sense", which rarely happens to me. chase
Robin, with respect, I believe you were in unincorporated Concordville (Concord Township), Delaware County, Pennsylvania near Philadelphia. But maybe there is a Concordville in Delaware (the state), too.

I am waiting too; but sometimes when I review the crappy images I get out of my 800E, I wonder why.

Nah, he was on Concord Pike in Talleyville (North Wilmington). Strip mall adjacent to the Concord Mall. Regardless of location, he showed great restraint and admirable resistance to GAS. 😈

That's it, Talleyville on the Concord pike US 202, about a mile or so south of the PA state line. By the way, he's a she.

Like my father use to say, way to often, practice may not make you perfect but it will definitely make you better, if that's what the practice is intended for so, practice, practice, practice. Of course he also had an odd sense of humor.

Freddb set me in the right place. I can't imagine not remembering the name since I've been there before and have passed through that part of Delaware dozens of times.

Could have been but whatever it was it saved me some bucks for now. Maybe someone will get it for me for my birthday.
