Regarding kayaking vest.... Stohlquist brand, Men's Ebb model... 90.00-120.00

I agree the Stohlquist PFD's are good also the Kokotat PFD's are good. You want to get one that does not restrict your paddling and other movements you need to be able to do while in the kayak. Make sure it fits you with a minimal amount of strap adjustments also make sure it is gender specific. It is amazing how different they make the male vs female PFD's for comfort.

My original Case Logic camera bag is bulging at the seams and I need to upgrade.
Right now I have a Canon EOS Rebel XSi, EFS 10-18 Zoom, 18-55 Zoom, EFS 70-300 Zoom, assorted filters, SD cards, batteries, lens hoods, strap, battery chargers, and a Canon SX710HS (What an amazing little brut!). I would like to ad a flash or two, maybe some other lenses, and a Canon 80D.
I have been on line looking at bags for a month. I'm cross-eyed. Forget suggesting my local camera shop. I can't find a camera shop in Pittsburgh, let alone Wheeling, West Virginia. Not even a good department in a store. Walmart doesn't count.
I like the way my Case Logic is constructed. I have also been considering G-raphy, USA Gear, Altura G---, Neewer, Lowpro, and Canon. For every 10 people who OK and praise a case there is always one who hates it.
I was just considering trying to find an on-line help board when Ugly Hedgehog popped up on my phone this morning. I'm hoping all you cameraphiles can help point me to a new backpack style bag that is configurable to my equipment and has lots of little pockets for the little stuff and is big enough for future equipment. Thanks in advance. And if there is a series of earlier answers to this question, point me there. Thanx!
My original Case Logic camera bag is bulging at th... (show quote)

I have the Case Logic SLRC-206 SLR Camera/Laptop Backpack and love it. It is well built, holds a lot gear and lenses and has a large zip pocket for a laptop. It has traveled the world with my wife and I. The straps are wide and there are good mesh pads on the back so you do not get too hot. The bag fits well in overhead bins on the plane. The only time TSA wanted to look in it was when I had a lot of extra cables for the iPads and iPhones stuffed in one of the pouches. One of the nice things about the bag is that the bottom is solid rubber/plastic so it stands up by itself when you are getting gear out of it. I have overstuffed it and it has held up well. I usually have 4 or 5 lenses in it a D810 camera a DX body and all of the support gear for the camera (charger, cables and filters) and a laptop or tablet. When I get to my room I empty all of the support gear out of it and just carry the photo gear and the weight reduces by at least half. I have had it for a least 6 years and it is not showing any real wear on it so Case Logic built it well.

Please indulge me. I have wanted one of these since I first rode in one 6 years ago. Nissan 370Z fire engine red. 2014 model, certified pre-owned only 22K mileage.

I had the 35th Anniversary Edition. I have to admit the Z is the only car I have owned that I truly miss. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. It may not be the fastest vehicle I have ever owned but I love the styling and the handling of the Z is phenomenal. In my opinion it handled better than my BMW 335i but was not as quick.

As long as the Canon and Nikon marketing departments keep coming up with GAS-bait like "Nano Crystal Coat, they will have you GAS victims right where they want you. My recommendation is that you enter a rehab program, after which you'll react to every GAS attack by taking a GasX tablet and saying to yourself, "How much is this REALLY going to improve my photography?"

LOL "Yes I admit I have a problem" isn't that what you are supposed to say? I am addicted to high quality glass, I have had that problem since the early 70's. Back then I had an allowance from the newspaper to buy camera and lenses. I now have to give myself that allowance and it makes me much more particular when the G.A.S. occurs.

Just bought a few large SSDs after considerable research: Samsung is about as good as they come reliability-wise.

CooledgeR is right about Samsung be reliable and you pay for that with their pricing. Another manufacturer I have good luck with is Verbatim, their portable SSD drives are very good and 1/2 the price of Samsung for a 2TB drive. I beat the crap out of mine, I am an IT Director, and I carry one in my toolkit for emergency backups of PCs that are failing. I cannot seem to convince some of my "Users?" that the best place to store their data is on the File Server not their local drive, they seem to think they know better than me.

There are 2 flavors of the Micro-Nikkor 105. Do you have the VR/N version? I would be interested in knowing how you like your 105.
I have been thinking of getting the VR/N version of the 105mm however I am giving some thot to getting rid of all my Nikon gear and going with a Canon 5D Mk IV with the Canon 24-105 IS lens. So I really don't want to spend any more $$ on Nikon stuff. ~FiddleMaker

FiddleMaker it is the latest version on the Nikon USA web page Model 2160. I think it is the VR/N, the N stands for Nano Crystal Coat. What surprised me is when I went to look at the lens on the web page to make sure of the model number, it is already in back-order status again. I had a wish list notification on Nikon to let me know when it came back in stock and I ordered it the same day, 3/23/ 2017, I got the notice. One week later it is on back-order again, so I guess I was not the only one with a major GAS attack for that lens.

Waiting for the weekend. That is quit some patience. Hopefully the GAS pain has subsided!

Unfortunately I am at the office and don't think the boss will be happy if I leave early. I think if I tell him I need to go take photos with my new toys the answer would be "NO". The GAS pains have to subside, spent all of my mad money. I still have a few things I want to get but I will have to be patient. Do not think the wife will forego the vacation to Nova Scotia to let me get the other items.

As everyone seems to say the Big Brown Truck came yesterday and delivered a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 20mm f/1.8G ED and a Nikon Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8. What beautiful hunks of glass, cannot wait to try them out this weekend.

I would recommend the 28 - 300 also. I did the flight last year and the pilot was very adept at getting over the points of interest. The shots were in the 35mm to 250mm range depending on how close you wanted to get with little cropping needed. I recommend either the early morning or late afternoon flight to get good renditions of the lava.

Sometimes you have no choice but to use your smart phone, like when your lens breaks while at a great location with a shot you really want to get. I know it is not a sharp as it could be and definitely is not post process usable but I still got the shot.

Scott unfortunately all of my lenses are pre-AI and unmodified. I got out of the photography business in the late 70's and went into the Information Technology world. Another way to continue the GAS problem.

Nice job Kim. I like #4 it gives us a different perspective of a big cat that most other images do not convey. I find the image to be almost abstract in nature, you really have to look hard at the image to discover what you are looking at.
