I use the 200-500 with my D7100. Have not shot sports but shot an airshow last summer. Fast moving jets and it did a reasonable job. I have also used it to capture a slower moving high school marching band and I liked the results there (closeups of student band members). Good luck with your choice, I have not tried the others but this one is heavy and does take some getting used to.

I am usually going to shoot birds so I take my d7100 and my 200 500 Nikon. If not specifically birds, I will take my 16 - 35 lens, my 85mm macro, and my 24 120 lens along with my other d7100. Recently purchased a 24 - 70 2.8 and am liking that as my carry around lens but have not really shot with it yet.

Great Shots, I was there a couple of weeks ago and although it is quite a ride from my CHicago Suburb, it was well worth it. Amazing place.

Thank you all. Ordered from B&H because they are always great to deal with and no tax for out of state customers. Given the price,
saving the $264 will pay for the new memory card I need. No hurry but I suspect it will be here sooner than a month or more as others have indicated. Looking forward to getting this in my bag.

I know the Nikon Rumors link I sent him was from 2 weeks ago. But the OP said he already ordered it from B&H. The point of including that link was to show the OP that Adorama and Amazon were shipping pre-orders ahead of what B&H was shipping, probably because B&H may have had more orders for the D850 than the other stores. I told him to call B&H to see how their fulfillment of orders was going.

Sometimes it pays to read the whole post instead of just one sentence. This way you understand what was actually said in the post.

Funny my wife said the same thing (I have 2 d7100s) I do think it would be better to get rid of one camera than the wife. In the end she would cost more and probably get all three cameras and other equipment anyway!!

I ordered a D850 from B&H on November 10, 2017. My camera arrived on January 9, 2018.

I have only had a few opportunities to use it, but so far, I am in love. I still have my Nikon D750 and D7100, and now my wife is insisting that I sell one of those. She feels that two cameras should be enough (primary and backup). I want to keep all three, but need help with a good reason to keep all three.

And if I do sell one (either the D750 or D7100), which one should I keep. The D750 is full frame and creates better images than the D7100, but the D7100 is lighter and useful when I take it on longer outdoor adventures, typically on my bicycle.

I have just ordered an d850 from B&H. Decided I needed an upgrade from my d7100, wanted a full frame, looked around and decided if I was going to jump this would be what I would need. My lenses should be compatible - I have purchased FX lenses over the years anticipating an upgrade and am doing it. One exception is my Macro 85mm DX lens, I think this will be okay but the others will work. A question, what has been everyone's experience with wait times? Hopefully not too long but seems worth the wait. Any other suggestions?

Congratulations! When I received my d7100 upgrade from a D40 a couple of years ago, I used a how to video collection from Creative live. Took me through all of the steps of setting up the camera and the various settings. Also taught a lot about photography in general. I think it was a total of 6 or 8 hours but well worth the investment. I like to learn by example rather than reading and it was helpful to me. Good luck with the camera. They also have a course on the 3400 for your daughter. I think there was some kind of a deal when I bought my course and you may be able to get a discount if both are bought at the same time.

I do a lot of video and while a DSLR can do video, a video camera eliminates a lot of issues. I use Vegas Pro for video editing and it has the capability to lighten under exposed video. There may be a free trial available of it or of a consumer level program. Another nice feature is a shake reduction add on which will help with the shakes that you may have captured.

I am responsible for sales tax at the place I work at to afford my gear. There is not always a physical presence required to require a retailer to collect and remit sales tax. As more commerce has shifted to online vendors states are adjusting their rules to get the cash. Worst example I can think of is Washington State - when we were audited there the revenue department agent pointed us toward a statute that indicated if you have a sales presence in the state, you need to collect and remit sales tax as well as a wholesaler's occupation tax (I may not have the titles of the tax correct). Sales presence was defined as one sales person visiting the state with an overnight stay once per year......... Verified with our outside accountants and we were forced to register and start paying the tax. Similar rules in Michigan. I believe that as states lose money to online retailers, more states will move toward these types of rules and place almost impossible to interpret requirements onto companies doing business.

I have used Vegas Pro and previous versions since Sony Vegas #4. Love the program, easy to use and gives great results. There was an earlier post on a different thread about a significant decrease in quality moving stills to video and placing on a DVR. I have done this many times with Vegas and have not really noticed a significant decrease in quality. I believe they still market a consumer version at a price in the acceptable range. Good luck in your search. There are many quality programs out there and finding yours can be a great conclusion.

I purchased a Pelican roll around carry on. Great protection for the equipment and easily fits into overhead.

I did have to check it once (Southwest Airlines - bad boarding number) - I knew it would be protected but very concerned it was going to be stolen. When it did not come on the belt I was upset but not surprised and headed toward the missing luggage claim office - this time surprised, it was waiting for me there. Some handler was nice enough to segregate it and not let the masses have a look. I now pay the $15 for early check in to avoid the issue. Well worth it especially after I totaled the value within the bag.....

I thought I saw a used one for that price on B&H but it is gone now. Shopping for a dad looking for a zoom for his son, maybe he bought it?
