How does BackBlaze handle external and networked drives?
All of my work files are on external drives which makes this a mandatory feature.
I know that Carbonite does not allow this.
Are there any other users of Cloud backup services that provide unlimited storage and support external drives?

Don't know. I am guessing that they mounted the floats on the plane, at the airport.

How did the plane get to the airport in the first place?

Fireworks on the 4th are a big thing in my neighborhood and I put up with it because they do a good job of cleaning up. What does concern me is "celebratory gunfire" which occurs New Years eve as well. This is when the drunk crazies really take over. One year we sprung a roof leak due to a falling bullet, another year I found this on my side walk. I asked a patrolman once what they do when the guns come out and he said "head for an overpass".

Is it me, or have any others out there noticed that there are no bees of any sort out there doing their flower
thing? My sister lives 175 miles away from me, here in the NE, and she has had to resort to pollinating the
tomato and zucchini flowers in her garden as there are no bees there either. Last year we had many different
sizes and types of bumblebees, however, this year all I see is the random wasp patrolling the plants. I saw 1 honey
bee in three random walks around the flower gardens today. Haven't seen as many butterflies as last year, either.
It is a nice bright, sunny, warm day when flowers are usually abounding with bees of all types, but, nada.
Is it me, or have any others out there noticed tha... (show quote)

A month or so ago I spotted a swarm of bees concentrated on the ground. For the previous three days they were flying around the exhaust duct to a business behind us. This happens every couple of years and I contacted our Kentuckiana Beekeepers Association which told me the next time I see this to contact them and they'll collect them. They said the bees were just looking for a new home, but I'd just as soon let them find one near me than let someone bee-nap them to a farm out in the county.
Here is a link to a video I took:

Those are impressive speeds.
Who is your provider and what level of service do you contract for?

We have Basic internet (lowest tier) with Time Warner Cable and have had 3.5 up and 15 down for some time. Recently Louisville attracted the attention of Google's Gigabit project and we are on the way to having them enter the local internet services community. Others have expressed interest in bidding as well. Mean while, Comcast bought out Time Warner and almost immediately "Basic" service speeds went to 50+ download and 5+ upload at no extra charge. I'm sure they did nothing other than throw a switch somewhere, which they could have done long ago. Competition is good. I know eventually that bandwidth will be metered to counter the exodus from Cable TV subscriptions toward streaming video program over the internet.

One thing about cable internet speeds is that you are on a network consisting of other businesses and households in your vicinity. Just as with usage in your own home, when demand goes up in the immediate region you are part of, the "big pie" of regional bandwidth gets cut up into more pieces and your speed will drop.
Unfortunately we don't have a household of net users and can't begin to use 50 mbps, so I would much rather have a reduction in cost, but, that will never happen.

BTW, the best move we made with cable was to buy our own modem instead of renting it.

It's a Western Digital. They'll take it back and give me a new one, but I just discovered I'm missing some important photos that aren't on my iMac or in Time Machine. (Grrrrrrrr.) Any recovery suggestions or companies you've been happy with?

Before you send it out, consider using a recovery utility like Data Rescue.
If the drive will spin up, it's worth a try before sending it out for "clean room" services.
To run a recovery utility, you will need a drive to save the recovered files to. Your internal iMac might be too small.

I use Dropbox to share files with people who know Dropbox and/or require large files. If I'm dealing with a group of folks with limited or no computer savvy who just want memory snaps of a social event I happened to attend, I upload to the Walgreens Photo Center where I have unlimited free storage. Send a link to those waiting for pictures and let them download or order prints from any Walgreens in the country.

I agree, recognizing a person from an image of the top of their head is probably difficult, but it would certainly help the police to track down a suspect trying to flee through the crowd.

But it does bring up a good point. Why am I bothering with this post-processing stuff? Taking pictures, is what I like, not computer processing.

Post processing is so straightforward (and non-destructive) with tools like Lightroom and Bridge that it should be considered more a part of the image review phase of your photo process. Most images can make do with basic exposure or curve adjustments, which can be applied to entire groups of exposures taken under similar circumstances. PP should be a restful period of getting acquainted with your work.

I recently had my Logitech Performance MX exhibit some strange behavior. The Cursor just started sliding horizontally to the left until it hit the edge of the screen. I could intercept it and get some clicks in to restart the computer, but the sliding returned.
I contacted Logitech and they told me to remove the battery and spend a minute clicking both sides of the mouse. When I replaced the battery, the sliding had stopped. Not sure this will help you, but I thought it was a good example of how weird some remedies can be.

If your customer is not willing to fool with Drop Box or Flickr, consider opening a Walgreens Photo account (other drug stores or big box stores may have them). The account is free and limitless and they can either view the pictures as a slide show or order prints to be picked up at their nearest outlet. You set up an "album" for them and email the link.

I have been giving my portraits customers a CD for them self, it would be about a total of 1-25 images,I would like now to upload them via e-mail or etc their images instead of a CD, what would be the easiest way they can have them with out making it a project for them to retrieve the images?
