Glad to read about the Nest Gimbals. I have the Sigma 150-600 Sport and will be looking at a gimbal soon. Have not gotten a tripod yet either. I'm inquiring about what kind and size of tripod and what size Nest Gimbal head you purchased. I've gone crazy looking at all that's out there. Really a lot of choices to chose from. You really want to get your selection right the first time or you'll be spending more money down the road getting a different choice. I want to stay with a Nest Gimbal set up. With a Tripod that is compatible also. Thanks for your input. I was thinking of driving out there to MT's place but have not decided yet. My better half is not too welcome to that idea.

I use the Nest Gimbal with a Nest tripod and have zero complaints. Both handle my 150-600mm Sigma Sport just fine. Check with MT Shooter he also has a large selection of used Tripods for sale.

You should do it. MT also has a variety of Nest tripods. they seem to be a good tripod and a great value.

Contact MT before you go. I stopped by on a trip home from Minnesota and Canada--Boundary Waters-- to New Mexico. He couldn't have been more gracious.

I own both the Nest Gimbal and a Nest Tripod. Dollar for dollar you can not go wrong with Nest & MT Shooter (Camera Cottage).

It is either the 150-600mm Sport or the Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8.

First post for me on UHH. Always enjoy following the conversations.
An issue for me is that ON1 Photo10 won't open on Mac with OSX 10.11.3. Combed the knowledge base for support - no luck. Removed the program reinstalled it following reboot of computer a number of times. The program appears for a split second than disappears. Does the same as standalone program and as photoshop plug in. Works perfectly on my MacBook Pro running OSX 10.11.2. Any one with similar problem? Thanks

Same here.

Very cool, I added a Yuneec Q500 to my photography business 2 years ago, it may soon be time to upgrade to the Inspire.

Congrats MT. This is a major problem for me. I just broke myself of calling you any spending money. Now I have to seek medical help to control the urges.

Above says it all! I am also a satisfied Nest Gimbal owner from Camera Cottage. I would buy it again if needed.

Ostensibly with 600mm, you will be shooting at 100 feet plus - at least I would be - most of the time - and I would be tuning the 600mm for at least that distance. But , you can certainly tune it at 40 feet and hope for the best - and/or do it again later when you can get outside.

Thank you imagemeister. I will tune it to 40' first and then check it this spring when the weather is better at 40' and 100'.

I tune these lenses at 30' very successfully, you do NOT need long distances as that is not the point of the focus tuning. The USB Dock will allow you to focus tune the lens at several "focal lengths", 150mm, 300mm, 600mm, etc.

Thanks MT. The doctor has me grounded for the next couple weeks and now I have something to do.

It would be long enough for THAT distance. There are several tuning distances available for each lens. I don't know all the distances off the top of my head, but the range covering 40 feet would be covered.

Thank you.

Due to my respiratory issues I cannot spend a lot of time outside in the winter and would like to tune my Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens using the Sigma Dock. My question is the following. I have a 40’ long heated building with excellent lighting. Is 40’ long enough length to tune the 150-600mm lens?

The dock is soooo easy to use . Just plug n play. I'm the dumbest computer person in photography and I can use it. But getting the focus adjusted exactly how I wanted for my 2 art lenses took me two days each. It was time consuming and thousands of pictures testing. But I was so picky repeating shot after shot eliminating missed focuses. I did this over and over. Probably spent 20 hours on each lens. I'm just anal like that but now these lenses really nail the focus in technical situations, lower light and wide open. Exactly what the Sigma lenses are not known for. I love my lenses and do plan on getting the 150-600 Sport . I'll probably drive me crazy setting everything . I read a review where a professional photographer super tuned his 150-600 sport and had it on d750. The results were phenomenal and he really bragged up the lenses performance. This was even before the latest firmware updates. For a Zoom of this range I think it's performance would be super hard to beat. I've also been looking at the Sigma 500 f/ 4.5 for the supposed extra resolution and better low light performance. So I'm up in the air between the two. If anyone has any information comparing the two please let me know.

You should contact MT Shooter for detailed information on both of the the lenses. You can PM him on the Hog or contact him at the Camera Cottage.
