ON1 Photo10 won't open on Mac with OSX 10.11.3

First post for me on UHH. Always enjoy following the conversations.
An issue for me is that ON1 Photo10 won't open on Mac with OSX 10.11.3. Combed the knowledge base for support - no luck. Removed the program reinstalled it following reboot of computer a number of times. The program appears for a split second than disappears. Does the same as standalone program and as photoshop plug in. Works perfectly on my MacBook Pro running OSX 10.11.2. Any one with similar problem? Thanks

Yep - me too. Exactly the same thing. I did send a note to Customer Support late yesterday and have not heard anything back.

There is a section in the FAQ that appears to address this, but the .lic file the FAQ answer does not appear in my Library.

I will give them a day or two to respond then notify the State Patrol. :-)

I've sent a note to ON1 too and haven't heard back yet either. I tried to find the FAQ you referred to. Can you let me know where it is? Thanks. Let's hope this can be sorted.

No problems with 10.11.4, you might try changing the upgrade pathway you're using to the beta track and install the 10.11.4 which was pushed out last week. Just register as an El Capitan beta user and when prompted choose to accept all beta versions. You can always turn that off once you've updated to 10.11.4.

Here's On1 10 running on EC 10.11.4 beta (build15E33e) as a stand alone program. The PS/LR plug in also works.

BTW once you register as a beta tester here is a short cut terminal command to change the upgrade pathway to all beta builds:

sudo softwareupdate --set-catalog https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.11beta-10.11-10.10-10.9-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog.gz

When you want to switch back to the GM update pathway, i.e., shut off the beta downloads use the following terminal command:

sudo softwareupdate --set-catalog https://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-10.11-10.10-10.9-mountainlion-lion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog.gz

By uninstalling and reinstalling you've inadvertently used up your license count. You have to contact Customer Support (not Tech Support) explain what happened and they'll reset the license counter for you.

The registration server for On 1 saves the unique machine ID for any computer that registers a version of On 1 software. Installing any instance of that version on a computer does nothing to change the machine ID. I'm skeptical. Every registration server I know of will allow you to reinstall a given software version as many times as you like on that exact same machine ID. Try to install on a different machine with a different ID and unless you have permission to register more than one machine ID you hit a registration block. Machine ID's for computers are not the Mac Layer address or IP address but rather a unique ID stored permanently on a ROM chip soldered to the motherboard. On1 BTW allows registration of two unique machine ID's. In the case of the OP that is his laptop and another Mac.

Not sure I buy your explanation. The OP is reinstalling on the same machine ID as the original software was registered on.

Furthermore the OP said he could reinstall the software (no mention of registration warning dialogue or a registration pop up window asking for either another key or a visit to a registration server); just can't launch the program.

The exact mechanism of ON1's activation service varies, I think, from what either of us has described. That said, they do tell you to run a deactivation program before uninstalling and reinstalling on the same machine. And yes, the issue is that the program launches then immediately quits.

Thanks for input everyone. Most helpful. A couple of things:
1. No issue with license given that I am using ON1 on the same Mac.
2 ON1 support have replied with a simple remedy which I have successfully activated. In essence it entails removal of the .lic file through following the path Mac HD > Library > Application Support > ON1 > ON1 Photo 10 > .lic file

I am no longer stymied.

Glad On 1 provided a simple fix.

If anyone still needs a link to the ON1 page with the instructions (Mac or Windows) here it is:
http://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/215498388-Application-launches-and-then-disappears

Also, there's a new version of ON1 out today.
