Customization Mode Settings Sigma 150-600 C with Sigma Dock

I want to set my C1 Mode settings to optimize birds in flight photography using the Sigma Dock and Sigma Optimization Pro Software for my Sigma 150-600mm C Lens. Looking for recommendations for the AF Speed Setting, Focus Limiter Setting and OS Setting to include the reasons for the setting(s) selected. I just got my dock and have applied the firmware updates. Also would like to know what C2 others have made to their Sigma 150-600. I photograph primarily birds, wildlife and landscapes with this lens. I would think it might be helpful to others who have or are thinking of getting the sigma dock to customize their Sigma compatible lenses. Real world, practical uses would be helpful to all. Looking forward to suggestions and use. Thanks guys.

I set my C1 for BIF. I used Motor Drive Speed Priority for the AF Speed setting and Dynamic View mode for the OS setting. This allows for the fastest autofocus and image stabilization for BIF. I also set my focus limiter setting to 30 feet to infinity to help speed up the searching.

Saying all that, I haven't tested those settings out yet but hope to soon since the migratory season is just beginning. I may change the limiter switch to a different setting once I try it out.

See, this is the reason I love this website! There are always people smarter than me willing to help with a question or problem. Now, I need to go change my customization settings. Thanks for the help!

Not clear if you plan on more than one setting for the C1 custom - according to Sigma only one setting per C1 or C2

Thanks for all the discussion. There are plenty of youtube and internet instructions on how to make changes to the settings, but there is nothing on the "why" for the setting or settings. The fact that a setting can be changed is worthless without knowing what the results of the changes will be or the practical reason for making the change. We have the ability to make 2 custom settings. I think it would be helpful for us to have a discussion on what changes we made and the reason for the changes and what the practical results were realized by these changes. UHH is great for sharing experiences and ideas.

I made the changes you suggested and tried them out today. I really like the AF Speed and Dynamic View mode settings. Not so sure about the focus limiter setting. I forgot to turn the custom settings off and couldn't figure out why I was having focus problems up close. I wish there was a way to make the Dynamic View mode default.

I was trying to decide what custom settings I wanted to try out, then I figured it made more sense (to me at least) to use the lens for awhile so I could find out just exactly what I wanted to change for various conditions or situations. I have not had time to get that far and it seems to be doing what I need it to do so far.

I suspect I will have a better idea of what I want/need to change as time goes on.

Have you started with the focus tuning yet?? That is my springtime camera project.

No. A little too complicated for me. I don't see the applicability for this lens.

Since I mostly use it at 600 mm, I thought I would try tbat out first.

That's not a bad idea. Let me know how it works for you.
