Tuning Sigma 15-600 inside a building:

Due to my respiratory issues I cannot spend a lot of time outside in the winter and would like to tune my Sigma 150-600mm Sport lens using the Sigma Dock. My question is the following. I have a 40’ long heated building with excellent lighting. Is 40’ long enough length to tune the 150-600mm lens?

It would be long enough for THAT distance. There are several tuning distances available for each lens. I don't know all the distances off the top of my head, but the range covering 40 feet would be covered.

What is the MMF of that lens? That should be all that you need!

I tune these lenses at 30' very successfully, you do NOT need long distances as that is not the point of the focus tuning. The USB Dock will allow you to focus tune the lens at several "focal lengths", 150mm, 300mm, 600mm, etc.

Thanks MT. The doctor has me grounded for the next couple weeks and now I have something to do.

Ostensibly with 600mm, you will be shooting at 100 feet plus - at least I would be - most of the time - and I would be tuning the 600mm for at least that distance. But , you can certainly tune it at 40 feet and hope for the best - and/or do it again later when you can get outside.

Thank you imagemeister. I will tune it to 40' first and then check it this spring when the weather is better at 40' and 100'.
