My star shoot ll is equivalent to a 5mm ep , as for why I used the filters . I've got 2 filters for that scope for the moon. I hadn't thought about the loss of detail, I was trying to save my eyeballs from hurting.

Hi Stepping Beyond,
I use filters for visual on the Moon but not for Photographing.
Specialized filters are good for Deep Space Objects and Planetary work.

I'm a disabled astronomer , never thought that AP was possible only using one arm. I'm still in the learning process and I still working on getting my mount and scope perfectly aligned.SB

Good progress. Keep at it and learn from our mistake too.

For anyone who has doubts that the build quality of the Sigma 150-600mm Sport model can justify its cost ($1999), all you need to do is take a look and the lens PRIOR to anodizing and painting the finished product.

This lens is built to endure. And optically it is built to perform! The skyrocketing demand means a long waiting list, but the wait is worth it. I love this lens and it will NOT disappoint!

After the reviews I could find I got the Tamron 150-600mm. And I am extremely pleased.
I put the $1000.00 bucks I saved toward the Nikon D800E I just bought. Didn't see that one coming. I can't wait to put the two together.

Here are two shots taken from the same place, one with the polarizer rotated one way, the other with it rotated 90* the other way. I should have taken a shot without any polarization at all, but you think of such things later..... Anyway, I thought it would make an interesting comparison...

Yes your Polarizer did it's job well.

Nice Moon shot Craig... too cold here lately when it is clear outside to do Moon shots... average temps in single digits and below zero at times... eyes would be too cold to focus properly... :(
Thanks Bruce. Cloudy here too, maybe Mon or Tues. but the Comet will be way the hell and gone by then.

I've enjoyed learning from all of you since getting more serious about photography. My main hobby is woodworking and woodturning. I wanted to get better images to post in a woodturners forum and that led me to upgrade my camera equipment.
So, my little studio here, set up on the fly, was on my living room couch with black velvet (for the woodturnings) and a throw blanket for my dog. Two flashes, a years-gone-by Vivitar 2800 I had laying around from years ago with a cheapo umbrella, and the other, my Canon 430EXII with a diffuser. They were up on cheapo stands and I used the Cowboy triggers to fire them off my camera, a Canon 60d.
PP done in Lightroom, and much to learn there too.
Thanks for your comments, and thanks for your knowledge! Ya'll are awesome, as always!

I found another archive photo of mine that I took a few years ago of Charlie Daniels and processed it with Topaz Glow... I think it came out pretty good even if you have never seen or know of Charlie Daniels...

Really nice one Bruce, I can almost hear Him playing.
