The wood got me into photography...

I've enjoyed learning from all of you since getting more serious about photography. My main hobby is woodworking and woodturning. I wanted to get better images to post in a woodturners forum and that led me to upgrade my camera equipment.
So, my little studio here, set up on the fly, was on my living room couch with black velvet (for the woodturnings) and a throw blanket for my dog. Two flashes, a years-gone-by Vivitar 2800 I had laying around from years ago with a cheapo umbrella, and the other, my Canon 430EXII with a diffuser. They were up on cheapo stands and I used the Cowboy triggers to fire them off my camera, a Canon 60d.
PP done in Lightroom, and much to learn there too.
Thanks for your comments, and thanks for your knowledge! Ya'll are awesome, as always!
Nice looking pieces you have there. Those bowls are especially interesting.

Thank you for the comments! And missing the toes? Dang it! Thanks for that reminder too. I am realizing that there really is so much to be aware of...so much to remember! Thanks again and thanks for looking!
You do nice wood work and your photos compliment them...thanks for sharing!
Beautiful wood turning. You're a very good craftsman.
I really love the first one. multi-talented I see, Keep it up!
Very nice shots, composition, sharpness and all that. My only question from a former potter is how the hell to you 'turn' an OVAL bowl? Also what's the price of good burl these days?
great woodworking, the composition of the bowls and jars, well done, I too would love to know about the oval bowls.

Really nice product photos. Black background looks good. The pieces themselves are also very impressive. Oh, yes, the dog is very cute. Good set.

Magicray, thanks for the comments! The oval bowls you're referring to I'm guessing are the natural edge ones, the ones with the ring of bark. That's really an optical illusion because of how the wood is cut from the tree. It's really round. And the price of burl? Oh, wow! Expensive stuff if you have to buy it somewhere and price varies greatly. This isn't burl, but I've had some given to me by friends.

Thanks Keith for commenting! On the oval bowls, so save space, see my reply just a few minutes ago to Magicray.
