I am considering buying a new Windows powered laptop and find that they still offer them with Windows 10 installed rather than Windows 11. I have also heard rumors that Windows 11 is not that great and wonder which way I should go on this purchase. Frankly, I'm still using Windows 7 on my current laptop, but it never sees the internet anymore and hasn't for quite some time and think it's time for an overall upgrade. So, what's the scoop on Windows 10 verses Windows 11? Any insightful information and/or feedback on this subject would be greatly appreciated!

While I understand the need to turn a profit and their use of this marketing strategy, I'd much rather see them raise the price rather the mess with the product. This is especially true when they substitute ingredients and literally change the product, but making the packages smaller also cause problems with time tested recipes, etc. Frankly, I find their "ShrinkFlation" tactics to be rather underhanded and would much prefer to buy the original product at a higher price if needed. It would certainly be less deceptive! However, I guess the majority of the consumer public reacts more to higher prices than to changes in a product and we will all just have to learn to deal with it. Good luck and Happy Holidays to all!

Here in the US we never changed to metric measurements because folks got too hung up on converting them back and forth. If we could just move over to metric and use it as the standard of measurement, there would be no real need to covert measurements back and forth. Unfortunately, this will never happen in this country because folks are too hung up on their old ways and most folks are opposed to most any kind of change anyway. Folks that have worked with metric measurements realize how far superior it can be and will use it as a preference when applicable, but that's about as far as it's going to go in this country!

I don't care what time they want to call it, I'm just sick of changing it back and forth. While I do have some clocks that change themselves, there are still clocks like on my appliances, and in my vehicles that have to be physically changed and it's a pain in the backside! Why can't everyone just go to work and/or school, etc. an hour earlier and leave the danged clocks alone?

Very easy work around. Do not access UHH from your email. In your browser just type www.uglyhedgehog.com
and it will come up in the old format.

This actually brings you up on the homepage that you can also access from the top of the page when signing in from e-mail. What I actually miss is the "What's new" section that used to come up at the top of the page, otherwise I can navigate the sections okay using the filters, but find myself doing so less and less.

I'll go on record as to not liking the change, but will probably adapt in time. Frankly, "New and Improved" is seldom a real benefit to me and I generally like the old saying that if something works don't mess with it.

The issue that surfaced here in early posts was one of those folks who believes in the Reagan prouncement of the most dangerous expression in the English language: "I am here from the governement and I am here to help". So based on expressions like this, the starter of this posting tree wants to get rid of the FDA. There are modifications that might be considered, but the FDA is a critical need to protect consumers who want to be assured that the drugs they receive are safe and effective. This cannot be left to the private sector but requires an agency in the public interest and currently the FDA is that agency.

Man, that's a stretch! All I did was post that the money spent on advertising drugs to folks that can't even buy them directly could be better used and save us all a lot of money. Just how does that translate into my wanting to get rid of the FDA?

Wow, this post turn political really quickly and got moved by the ad-min! Still an interesting discussion going on here about the situation. However, I'd really like to know how many out there think it is absurb to spend so much money on advertising drugs to the masses when they can't even purchase them directly. Apparently, this method does work in increasing sales, but I'm pretty sure it increases costs to the end users by a very large margin. While I do agree that the government should not be involved in price fixing, there are some things, like this one, that do need to be reigned in a bit, at least in my opinion!

Government attempts to drive down the cost of prescription meds has been in the news again lately. As most of us, I like the sound of this, but I think they are ignoring a big opportunity to help control these prices. Simply put, why do we have to have so many commercial ads for drugs that can only be obtained through a doctor's script? Seriously, there is at least one drug ad in every commercial break on TV and none of these drugs can be obtained without first going to the doctor. Not to mention that any of these heavily advertised drugs are ridiculously expensive should your doctor choose to prescribe them and I know this from personal experience. I honestly believe that the excessive cost of these drugs is directly proportional to the money spent to advertise them to folks that can't even purchase them directly. Frankly, Big Pharma simply has to recover these advertising funds before they can turn a profit, so the cost is pretty much built into the price and lord knows they are making some serious money overall. Maybe these ads and/or the budget for them could be limited in some way or possibly even restricted to doctor's journals, etc. and not put out there to the masses like it is now. Big Pharma literally spends billions of dollars each year on these ads! If we could cut into this advertising budget and pass along that money to savings on the actual use of the drugs, I think we could cut drug costs by at least 50%, at least on the newer drugs that seem to get all the ads. I will admit that the broadcasting people (the folks that get paid to run these ads) would suffer a big loss and would fight this idea tooth and nail, but I think it's at least worth cutting back a bit on the flood of drug ads we are currently being subjected to on air. I'd appreciate a sensible and honest discussion on this, if that's even possible.

Natural Climate Change! It's been changing for eons and will continue to do so. However, the big deal with climate change now is that the scientists say it is changing too rapidly and that we are the primary cause. I personally feel that this is only partially true, but do think that we do indeed have an affect. However, whether we are the primary cause of this rapid change has never really been properly studied. If we stopped all our greenhouse gas emissions (which isn't going to happen anytime soon), could it possibly stop Climate Change and turn the changes back the other way? Somehow how I doubt it, but that's just an opinion. I would sure like to see some real scientific study on this issue rather than the knee-jerk reactions we get bombarded with on a daily basis.

I think that Canon's Zoombrowser EX is the best .jpeg editor out there and it takes care of most of my needs and then some. I only edit RAW files if there is really something special that I want to get the most out of and make the extra effort on. Frankly, I'm really sorry to hear that Canon may have discontinued it, but my current copy will be running on my Windows 7 computer for a long while to come. Good luck and good shooting to all.

While it does have a somewhat "Dreamy" effect, none of the leaves are in focus. Personally, I would have tried for a bit more depth of field or at least focused on one of the leaves rather than the stem. Not meant to be criticism, just an observation and my personal opinion.

There seems to be a new trend of passing on credit card charges to the customer in the order of 3%. While I don't much care for this, I can also see how and why some businesses feel the need to do so and have paid it when necessary. However, I came across a bit of a new take on this at a local restaurant the other day that really rubbed me wrong. They posted a sign at the checkout saying: "We have a built in discount in our prices for cash purchases. If you choose to use a credit card instead of cash, then you will not receive this discount and a 3.5% charge will appear on your bill." I realize that it's pretty much the same either way, but why couldn't they just say that they have to pass along the credit card charges rather than claiming that they have a "Built-In" discount for using cash? I'd much rather them call a "Spade a Spade" rather than try to disguise it as a discount for cash rather than a charge for the credit card. I guess that's just Marketing, but why the need to be deceptive about it? Frankly, it may be a good while before I return to this restaurant.
