I wore one on our trip to Africa and had it jammed with all kinds of stuff (looked like the Mchelin man). No one ever questioned me about it.
Five joint replacements and still kickin!
Good luck with yours!!
Lake Louise and Morain lake shouldn't be missed. Take the 1A hiway from Banff to Lake Louise for some great scenery and a chance of seeing wildlife. Johnson Canyon is very scenic if you're up for a bit of a walk. There is a newly opened (year before last) skywalk off of the Banff Jasper Hiway. Since there is no parking there you need to stop at the Athabasca Glacier lodge and take the bus from there to the skywalk. Of course there is lots of great scenery all along the drive from Lake Loouise to Jasper.

Lots of small lakes and waterfalls in the area. Beutiful scenery, and Jasper is still beautiful, was there in June.
We were in Jasper a couple of weeks ago and even though it rained part of the time it was still gorgeous. Took a phtographers tour to Ghost Island in Maligne lake. Even though it was stormy got some great shots. They also provided wine and cheese for the trip back to the lodge. Attached a photo from there
We went to Tanzania last summer with Roy's Safari's (highly, highly recommended). They looked after us from the time we arrived in Arusha until we left. Had a private safari (just my wife and I) with an excellent guided and driver. Totally safe and even more pampered. We spent 6 days in the Serengeti besides seeing all kinds of wildlife we caught five Mara crossings - totally amazing experience of a life time for us! Pictures below to wet your appetite.

Serengeti Leopard

We took a couple of heavy Kingsize, quilted pillow cases to slip our telephoto outifits in when we weren't shooting. I shot with a 60D with a 250 to 500mm zoom and my wife shot a 7D with a 100- 400mm zoom and a 6d with a 500mm prime. We kept our second bodies and 24X105's in our camera bags zipped up. We like these combinations and even though most of the time we were quite close to the critters generally found the telephotos useful.
We haven't learned to travel light either.
Thanks to all for the recommendations
I'm interested in buying a great wide angle zoom lens for my Canon 5d mark II. Wanting it to shoot landscapes both daylight and night. Recommendations please
That's a great shot! I'm sold - just have to convince the wife that I need another lens?
After trying several ball heads with less than satisfactory results, bit the bullet and bought the Acratech GPs Ballhead with Gimbal Feature, for my work it is excellent. When I use my Cannon 500mm telephoto I use the Gimbal feature and am very happy with the control and stability this head provides.
Perfect! Since I am somewhat handicapped and have multiple joint replacements this would speed up my securtity checks for sure!!
Man you ARE experienced! Thanks - I think?
Great suggestions - Thanks everyone!
Thanks for the comments - I have 2 canon bodies, Sigma 150-500mm, Canon 70-200, 2.8, my Canon 24-105, batteries, flash, chargers and cord caddy - weighs in at about 36 poiunds. Then I have my Canon 500mm, f4 all by itself in a backpack. My wifes roller bag is somewhat similar except she has the 100- 400mm. Her pesonal item is a bag with the laptop. Should we be concerned??
My wife and I (we're both avid photographers) are flying KLM to Tanzania the end of the month and very nervous that we have to much camera gear to get on board. We haveThink Tank bags that are carry - on size but they are heavier than regs allow. Would appreciate hearing others experiences before we repack.
