I have the same problem on my Nikon d5500, and I thought this would be the answer, but it isn't. Back button focusing followed by half pressing the shutter button does NOT lock the original exposure. Any suggestions on how to do this on the d5500? Thanks.

I can't speak directly to your D5500, but my D610 allows me to program the DOF button. I have that set to AE-Lock on my camera. That allows me to lock exposure with the DOF button at the portion of the scene where exposure is critical, lock focus with BBF at the portion of the scene where focus is critical, recompose and shoot and have both the exposure and focus locked at two different areas of my scene. Look through your manual to see if there are any programmable buttons which you may otherwise not use that you can reprogram to AE-L.

I chimp at least the first shot of every series to make sure WB and exposure are where I want them to be.

Why would you need to tell us much? We already know it all.

I have encountered a weird phenomenon on my Dell 17R 7720 laptop - I get no audio when I play YouTube videos. Everything is fine if I play a Facebook video, for example, but when I play a YouTube video the video is fine but I get no audio from the feed. The audio had been working fine up until a few days ago when for some reason the YouTube audio just stopped working. The only thing I can think of as a possible cause is I downloaded and used a Win 10 privacy app OOSU10.exe from the Kim Kommado website recommendation somewhere in this same timeframe. Is it possible that something I changed in one of my privacy settings would block audio from YouTube but not from Facebook? Of course I don't recall specifically I changed with OOSU10 but looking at it I don't immediately see anything that looks like it would affect an audio feed.

What you want to avoid is to adjust only the lens to a specific body, because then it may not work correctly on other bodies..

He is not adjusting the lens to a specific body - he is adjusting the body to a specific lens. The micro-adjustment is a correction factor entered into the body's memory to adjust focus for that specific lens. There is no adjustment made to the lens itself.

I bought a Vello grip for my D610 from B&H. It fits fine and works fine other than the multi-function button has a bit different "feel" than the multi-function button on the camera. I doubt the extra cost of the Nikon grip would be worth it to me.

I have the Oben CT-3451 Carbon Fiber with ball head similar to the Benro you are looking at. The Oben has a 13.1 lb rating, similar working height, about 6" shorter folded length and has the monopod feature. I have used mine with my D3X and D610 quite extensively for about 2 years and am quite happy with it.

3. Smith's diamond hone, kept on the counter next to my stove. Every time I pull out my chef's knife to work on dinner, I run the chef's knife, my general purpose 4" filleting knife and my pocket knife 4 quick strokes each, both sides over the hone. I never have to wonder if I need to sharpen any of them.

The convenience if IS in camera is that any lens you fit to that camera will be stabilized. Stabilization in the lens implies that it will work for that particular lens only.
You do not want to use IS in camera and lens at the same time.

Why not I've been using both for years on my D7200?

Really? I haven't read anything reporting in-body image stabilization on a Nikon D7200.

It's the technology you're buying. Amazon sells them under their own name for a lower price.

Are the Amazon branded Eneloops 2nd or 3rd generation?

In one of his books, Ansel Adams wrote that at the end of the day's shooting he would reset all of his camera controls to a "base" setting to be ready for the next days shoot. Of course, Ansel didn't have to worry about DSLR batteries going dead. Instead of a post-shoot setup, my routine is to do a "preflight" check before I leave the house. I look outside to see what the light is like, then turn on my camera and check battery condition, shooting mode, white balance and ISO. I have 1-2 spare batteries for each camera, so depending on the state of charge in the battery I might just head out as-is or tuck a spare battery in my pocket if I'm not taking my gear bag with me. But I never, ever put a camera up without a battery installed.
