My Canon printers have two black ink cartridges - a regular-sized one and a large one. Which one is used for regular, black text printing?

One is probably PK and the other is probably MK. PK is photo black and MK is mat black

The PK is used for regular document printing and photo printing. Do not regularly switch between the two. Doing so uses ink.

Flickr is owned by Smug Mug. I would imagine that at anytime they will be merged. I switched a few years ago and glad I did.

Op/Tech has lots of options that attach to the lugs. Some can easily convert from a neck strap to a cross-body shoulder strap.

Well, it has finally happened. While I have heard of card failures, and have accepted that it would likely happen to me eventually, I’m not sure that I truly believed it would, but it has. Fortunately, I caught the issue early in the shoot, and have dual card slots, but my backup is JPEG, so it would be great to be able to recover the raw files. So, my question is, does anyone know of any options I might try to recover the data? I searched the archives and didn’t see anything recently on this, so I’m hopeful there may be an option. Thanks!

Pat, yes try Recuva, then if that does not work there are professional companies out there that can recover the images. However, they are not cheap. Depends on the necessity of needing the Raw images if you want to spend a couple of hundred to try and get them.
You can also try to contact the card mfgr. as they might have their own recovery program also.

Good luck to you.

Hello All,

I have a question about taking photographs of buildings on private property if I am on puplic property such as a roadway? The reason I am asking is there are some beautiful stone buildings where I live. I was thinking of photographing them and if possible make a calender with them. Is this something that can be done with out the landowners permission?

Thank you,

OK, let's get to basics. We will assume you take the photo of a home from a public location, like the street or sidewalk in front of the home. Let's further assume that you have every right to do so. (no permission is obtained). Now you publish this calendar, and some home owner gets their nose out of joint because you used a photo of his house. He files a lawsuit and you start defending your right to take the photo and sell it. Is it worth 5000 or 10,000 to defend your right to use that photo. Or is it better to ask for the permission and get it agreed, before you start selling?

Hi after submitting a photo with focus trouble someone suggested i may not have BBF set up correctly and think they are right. I thought i was doing all the steps but when i check back to controls it reverts back to Fn1 instead of AE-L/AF-L, any help would appreciated. Gail

Gail, watch this you tube video and it might help you to make sure you are setting it up correctly.

I have been using BBF for years, shooting all kinds of photography, and would not go back to the 1/2 shutter push. Shooting events and portraits and landscapes. etc.

The point of the thread was really to discuss a demo lens and to keep it for either $100 or $400 more. I will have no problem posting the name but let’s say you own this company and a night shift employee did this. Would you want to wake up this morning to your company’s good name on here being bashed before you even saw the problem and had time to fix it? If they fix it to my liking then all is well, if not I will post everything. I screen captured my original order and it being canceled and the other order being placed.

First off here there is something that I am very confused about. You bought a new lens for 899. The charged your credit card 899. Then they cancelled that like it doesn't exist and charged you 799. and sent you a used lens. But then you talk about a 100 store credit. ??????? Plus you are afraid to tell us who it is for fear of getting someone in trouble. They are already in trouble for the bait and switch. Unless they got praised for making more money on the sale of used equipment. If I owned the company and one of my employees did that they would be fired. So you want to protect the company who did a bait and switch?

from your posting, "I won't burn down your house if you pay me every month" is not a service, it is a criminal activity, an extortion racket.

The company never said that so I don't know where you quote comes from and say that they are criminal and providing an extortion racket is actually criminal on your part. There are many many slide sow companies out there to choose from. Photodex will still be usable until your copy quits. So if you don't like this company don't buy their product, but calling them criminal and extortionists, without any proof is uncalled for on your part.

A scam is by definition a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation. That describes what these people are doing accurately, as far as I can see. They are misrepresenting what they are doing. Nothing changes except they get more money and more control for giving back nothing to you in exchange for that. The subscription model is a hustle. Software companies are operating as financial institutions, in essence, with completely open-ended loan terms. It wouldn't matter if it were $2 a month. They are not obligated to do anything for you and you are obligated to give them money every month, and they want access to your machine so they can shut the software off if you don't pay. They are providing no service. "I won't burn down your house if you pay me every month" is not a service, it is a criminal activity, an extortion racket.

Well of course then if you think the company and the program is that bad then don't buy it. No need to bad mouth them if you have no proof. As far as I can tell, evidently proshow was not making the money and had to go out of business. This company came up with a way to do similiar slide shows and make money in the process. Kudos to them. Charging what they need to sell their product is not a criminal activity or extortion and could subject you to criminal charges for saying so without proof. If photodex, would have raised their pricing to $250. per year for their program, you probably would also be calling them a fraud too.

Thought i had focused on family but seems like most everything is in focus but them. I use BBF, Nikon D7000 with Nikkor 50mm 1.8 Lens. Pattern meter mode, 1/60 and F/4 not sure ISO. I don't post often so not sure what other info might help. I did get some that were in focus with same set up. Any help would be appreciated, Gail

Gail, what happened is the camera locked onto the background for the focus. That is because there is more background than subject in this example photo. You should be on spot metering and lock on an eye with the BBF and then take your finger of the bbf and recompose and shoot.

Go to youtube and search for Steve Perry. Steve is a nikon shooter and has a very explicit video on setting up BBF on the Nikons. This is the link to that video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzqQskGoURE

Exactly what I was thinking. Hmmm let's lay this out. An American with a camera in Turkey taking photos of the buildings. Yep sounds like a suicide mission to me.

Why I quit competing at the camera clubs. About a year ago, a club posted a photo on their facebook page. At their competition that was judged by 3 people considered to be judges. The photo was a composite of a nice classic car on a two lane curvy back road in the fall. When I saw the image, I immediately identified it as a composite. The car was out of proportion, the wheels were turned the wrong way for the curve of the road. The car shadows did not match the background shadows, and the cut out of the car had many missing areas at the edges. This image was voted as their color print of the month. I can only imagine what the others looked like.
