I use a Black Rapids shoulder strap. I've recently become dissatisfied with how it attaches to the tripod socket. Any recommendations of a strap( other than the provided neck strap) would be appreciated. I want one that hooks to the neck strap lugs. If I had access to a sewing machine , I could easily adapt my current sling.

Op/Tech has lots of options that attach to the lugs. Some can easily convert from a neck strap to a cross-body shoulder strap.

Maybe you can find a shoe shop and have it fix for you!

I have often used a local shoemaker to make quick and easy modification for much of my equipment.

I am also a big fan of OpTech and use them exclusively. For just one camera, I use a Pro Loop Strap. Around $20 at B&H. Best of luck.

I use an OP/TECH USA sling strap. It attaches to the neck strap lugs.

I use a Sunsnyper shoulder strap and had the same complaint. I removed the existing connection and attached it to the camera with the normal side rings. Easy job and camera hangs in a position where you would grab it.

Thanks to all. We don't have a shoe repair shop anymore. I'll look for a seamstress in town though. I'll also check out the suggested company's.

Maybe a spare key ring would allow to use your current strap with the camera lug?
(just make sure is one that is strong enough to be safe)

I'm an OP/Tech strap owner too.. However, I own the padded neck version. The factory Nikon strap, just didn't cut the mustard, with a camera/lens combination.

I will explore that idea. I'd only use secure ones.

I've tried several different straps and this one (PeakDesign "Slide") is by far my favorite. I bought extra anchors so that I can easily switch this one strap between three different camera bodies (6D, 7D2 and 5D4). It is very slick on one side, so you can carry the camera on your side and very easily pull it to your eye when needed. The other side of the strap had a more sticky ribbed surface for when you're hiking and just want it to stay put without any slipping around.
