Hi Bill,
I don't have Sony cameras (yet) but on my Nikons, I had to go to the setup menu under "timers," "monitor off delay," and then set "live view" to infinity. I can get clean HDMI out of my Lumix camera by pressing the "Disp" button on the back of the camera. Thank you for taking the time to check this out. Take care & ...

Hi Group,

This summer I'm revamping my Zoom & livestreaming studio. The plan is to add 4 more cameras and I already know the Sony RX100 M3 does everything I need but the price on the used market is much higher than the original or Mark 2. My questions are:

1. Can the RX100 or the RX100 M2 provide "clean HDMI" out?
2. Can either camera's live views be set to a timespan of more than 30 minutes (the M3 has an infinity setting)? I know the record time is limited to 30 minutes but often the live view can be set to infinity or as long as the battery lasts. I use dummy AC batteries on all my cameras so that would not be an issue.

I'm hoping someone on the group has an answer based on their experience with either of these cameras. Thanks for your thoughts and have a great day. Take care & ...

Hi Paul,

I'm loving the D700 I bought from you several years ago. One of my computers has the same "internals" as yours and I use Photoshop Elements 2015 on it. I use PSE 2022 on my other machines, but that newer version isn't supposed to work with Windows 7. I used PSE in the Expert Mode, but the Quick and Guided Modes are fairly easy to understand and follow. Take care & ...

Hi Group,

I'm looking for several older bridge or mirrorless cameras to use in my Zoom/livestreaming studio. I want to connect them to an HDMI switch to use with OBS. My needs are as follows:

1. Be able to set the camera's live view to continuous with no time out
2. Have an HDMI port - a mic jack would be nice but not mandatory
3. Have macro focusing capability while zooming
4. Have a fairly sharp lens
5. Reasonably good ISO up to 1200 (+/-)
6. RAW ability is not important as I'll only be using the live view

I have an older Nikon1 V1 that is perfect except the live view times out after 15 minutes, and I've not figured out how to override that feature. Thank you in advance for your thoughts and ideas. Take care & ...

I just had an interesting and frustrating exchange with Nikon. I asked them to reparse my D7200, actually applied with serial number. They gave me permission to return it. When the received it, they told me it was grey market but if I would send them proof of purchase in the US, they could repair it. I sent them POP from Abes of Maine (don't say it). Then they told me they were returning it unfixed because they could not tell which country it was intended for and that cameras were constructed differently for different countries.
All this leads me to the often asked and answered question, who does repair grey market Nikons? Of course, I never kept a record of previous answers.
I will appreciate any help.

Hi RichKenn,
You didnt' say what's wrong with the camera. Does the live view and auto focus still work? I might be interested is using something like it for my Zoom and live streaming camera if the price is right. Take care & ...

Hi Quixdraw,

You already have the "places" to send the film for digitizing for other members of UHH. I assume it can still be run through a projector and you have the projector. You can set up a video camera or smartphone, run the film, and record it with your video capture device. That will give you a backup (albeit less than great) so you don't completely "lose the moment in history" should the digitizing process go bad. Take care & ...

Hi Group,
I'm not sure if my terminology works for the "techie types" on the group but I've found every lens/camera combination seems to have a "sweet spot" where the picture is the sharpest. At least it does for the macro pix I shoot for books, articles, and catalog illustrations focused on the fly-fishing industry. Take care & ...

I'm from a mid-west farm where dinner was served at noon and supper at the end of the workday. During haying season, we enjoyed two lunches - one in mid-morning and another in mid-afternoon. In the morning we had toast and coffee at 4:00 AM before milking cows and a regular breakfast at 7:00 before going to school. Take care & ...
