Who would you absolutely trust to digitize an old super 8 film

Have a very old film that is very important to me and irreplaceable - my Shodan test in Jiu Jitsu. Both my adult kids are Martial Artists and I'd like to share the film, warts, wrinkles and all, with them, I'd even like to see it myself 50+ years on. Where have you sent things that got the job done reasonably promptly and well.

The film is in a Kodak box, so I assume so. Edit: Thanks very much, since I am not into movies, I didn't know they had that service - makes snese, go to the source!

I show mine to my sons on my Kodak super 8 projector, but if I was going to digitize, I would send them to Kodak. (kodakdigitizing.com).

How much film? Is scanning yourself worth the money to spend on a movie film scanner? The 720p model of this is much cheaper than the 1080p but only takes 5 inch reels.

Thanks, never been a movie guy. Could probably get a projector for cheap, but will go Kodak - the only movie film I have.

Hi Quixdraw,

You already have the "places" to send the film for digitizing for other members of UHH. I assume it can still be run through a projector and you have the projector. You can set up a video camera or smartphone, run the film, and record it with your video capture device. That will give you a backup (albeit less than great) so you don't completely "lose the moment in history" should the digitizing process go bad. Take care & ...

Many thanks for all the suggestions! Getting it to my choice will be the only risk.

Have never owned a movie camera or projector, frankly I can't remember if I ever saw the film. It was taken by a friend and given to me. I did have a couple of video cameras when the kids were small but they are long gone. Since I have no way to project it, though the idea is a good one I'm just going to have to take the risk and ship it. I also have the distinction of being one of the relatively few people in the country who doesn't have or use cell phones. In any case, thanks for the input!

Quixdraw, once again we have a bit of something in common. I practiced Jiu-Jitsu in my high school days. I never competed nor did I ever have to rely on my training, however, it was a great exercise and it did provide me with self-confidence.
