Just received new lens today purchased from B&H Photo. Hope this will be my "go to" lens on my D800e for African Safari trip next month. I also have Sony a6500 with 18-105mm (my wife will use this). I went to backyard and took some quick shots just to get an idea of sharpness. I have a few weeks to play with this setup before trip so hope it meet my needs.

Dunno how rental shops maintain their lenses, Sigma lenses can be "tweaked" using USB dock. Could performance of these lenses have been effected by customization?

I have this lens and love the pics it produces with my Nikon D800e. It is a heavy lens so an appropriate tripod and gimbal are necessary.

Check out Induro carbon fiber GIT series 3 and 4. They come in L and XL sizes. I have the GIT404XL. Excellent quality tripod.

I bought the same at Costco for my D800e. No problems on camera and I use a card reader. However, I rarely offload from sd card as I set option to write jpeg to it. I off load the raw from the CF card.

Very nice! I have this same lens for my D800e. Did you get the Sigma usb dock?
