I went to Costco and bought a couple of San Disk, Extreme Plus 90mbs 32gb cards for $18.99. I've have had two that would not read when inserted into my Mac Notebook they would not read unless I inserted and removed several times. I know the images are on the card cause I can see them in camera. Thank goodness for two cards in camera because the other one read fine. Brought the cards back to Costco on separate occasions for an even exchange no questions asked.

So my question is Best Buy is selling the same card for $79.99 for what looks like the exact same card, does anyone think there is a difference in cards other than the $$$.

I'm also wondering whether a SD card reader might be the answer?

Does anyone have a similar condition, maybe it's my card reader in the NoteBook.

They're working in your camera and after several attempts in your computer, so it's probably the reader. Take the computer to the Genius Bar. Alternatively, get an exterior reader that plugs into your computer via USB - they're not expensive.
I have several of the same cards and never had a problem.

Thanks I was kind of leaning that way.

You are lucky you have return them in Costco. I was returning a bad card at SanDisk and they made me jump through a lot of hoops. Almost gave up.

Jodo, make sure you are looking at the same card.
I believe the Extreme Plus and Pro are both black and say 90mb/s.
But the plus is a 90/45 card while the pro is 90/90 card thus is actually twice as fast in the camera, hence the cost, but the same speed in the computer.

If best buy is asking $80 for an SD card it certainly isn't a $18 32G X 90 card, unless there's 5 of them in the package. A 128G X 90 San Disk Extreme card goes for around $60.

Do a search to see if you can find any information on counterfeit SD cards. I've seen several articles on how to spot the difference.

Went back to Best Buy Web page and everything is exactly the same except one little thing on B B it says RescuePro Media recovery software is included. Can that be worth a $60 difference? Not in my book!

Bob,I looked at the counterfeit video, maybe I have a counterfeit card. But I went on the SD web page and clicked on sellers:

B&H $24.95
Micro Center $24.95
Best Buy $79.99

The ones I bought At Costco were on a big cardboard sleeve, do you think that Costco could be buying (selling)bootlegged SanDisk products? The SD card I have is flat in the back and say Made In China (not surprised) and a serial #BM1615150264D

I have purchased several of these cards from Costco recently and have never had a problem. However, I always use an external card reader, not the one on my hp laptops.

I'm not saying they are, or aren't. I was just offering a word of caution, based only on the price. Would Costco sell bootlegged product? Probably not, knowingly. However, if a buyer in their purchasing dept. sees what looks like a great deal, it's possible. I'm just very cautious when I see a price substantially lower than retailers I know to be picky about the products they sell.

Thanks for your help & thoughts. I just put an inquiry in with SanDisk to run the Serial # and checked to see if Costco is a legit seller, they were.

My extreme PRO looks a lot like the extreme plus but costs more and is faster than the plus. I like it because it can keep up with my 10 fps camera.
